Pure 32-Bit Benchmarks: Maya Render Test, Super Pi

Maya 8 Render Test Source: Maya-Test Center

Because of different displacement algorithms and continuous improvements of the renderer, Maya 6 and its corresponding batch renderer is absolutely required. The Test Scene is fairly processor-intensive and can take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to render depending on your system specifications. Rendering produces 1 frame (512x512pixels). Lower times are better.

With a single core engaged, the AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ handles this test in 52 seconds. When both processing cores are utilized, the AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ carries forth with a Maya Rendertest time of 33 seconds. It's much faster than the Intel Pentium D processor, but the Core 2 Duo E6600 takes the cake at just 12 seconds.

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The benchmark is fairly diverse and allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 Thousand to 32 Million. The benchmark, which uses 19 iterations in the test, is set 1 Million digits.

Lower numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better performance.

The increase latency in the L2 cache makes itself apparent here and the Athlon64 X2 4800+ can't match the Athlon64 4000+ processor. SuperPi times are good, but nothing too special.
