ECS G33T-M2 Intel G33 Express Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
Abstract: The ECS G33T-M2 motherboard is based on Intel's news integrated graphics chipset, the G33 Express, and like the Intel P35 Express makes an awesome duo when paired with a dual core Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Overclocking Intel's P35 chipset

Overclocking Results:
Stock Max. OC
Motherboard Speed: 266 MHz

335 MHz

If you're new to Overclocking and not sure what to do, check out these two excellent Guides for some pointers:
Overclocking the CPU and Memory
Overclocking the Videocard

The ECS G33T-M2 motherboard is intended for the workstation market and is not designed to be a super overclocking. The motherboard will be equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and a 2GB set of Corsair DOMINATOR Twin2X2048-8888C4DF memory.

Starting at 266 MHz the G33T-M2 motherboard clock speed was increased in 5 MHz increments. It flew past 300 MHz without much difficulty, but the motherboard quickly hit a top speed of 335 MHz. Anything higher and the system would crash while loading Windows, or not POST at all.

The lack of overclocking prowess should not surprise anyone considering the ECS G33T-M2's intended market - the dutiful office PC.

The ECS BIOS

The ECS G33T-M2 motherboard has the usual memory timing adjustments we've come to expect.

You can't expect much overclocking with options that you see above. ECS takes a bit of a strange route, the motherboard FSB goes from 266-680 MHz although you'll never get that high. Maximum memory voltage is 2.0V.

Prelude to Benchmarks

As the Intel G33 Express chipset is Microsoft Windows Vista ready, PCSTATS will be testing the ECS G33T-M2 motherboard in Windows Vista 32 bit. Consequently there are slightly less benchmarks than we would normally have for a WindowsXP based test system because benchmark compatibility with Vista is still finding its feet. To reiterate, the benchmark results on the following pages were all conducted within Microsoft Vista Ultimate.

The details of how the ECS G33T-M2 motherboard test system was configured for benchmarking; the specific hardware, software drivers, operating system and benchmark versions is indicated below. In the second column are the general specs for the reference platforms this Intel G33 Express based motherboard is to be compared against. Please take a moment to look over PCSTATS test system configurations before moving on to the individual benchmark results on the next page.
