DX10 Motherboard IGP Benchmarks: Call of Juarez, Crysis

Call of Juarez

Source: Techland

While Call of Juarez pulls off all the classic FPS mechanisms with aplomb, it also features interesting variations that give it the air and feel of a true Western movie. The player has the genuine impression of being a pistol-packing hero in an age when armed confrontation was the daily grind for many adventurers. The Developers have incorporated a classic shooting system as well as two extra game modes.

The Asus M4A78T-E does a little better in CPU-bound tests where its DDR3 memory can provide better processing performance, but at resolution where the GPU becomes more of a bottleneck the overall performance suffers when compared to other motherboards based on the same AMD 790GX chipset.

Crysis 1.2

Source: Electronic Arts

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX 10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista and Windows XP.

Crysis continues to have serious scaling issues with low-quality, low resolution settings, with the Geforce 8800 GTS running the game slightly slower than the on-board graphics. When the quality and resolution are boosted up both the discrete video card and the IGP both become too slow to actually play the game.

Our final thoughts on the Asus M4A78T-E motherboard are next!
