Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H Intel Z77 Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
Abstract: PCSTATS really liked what we saw from Gigabyte's Intel Z77 based GA-Z77X-UD4H motherboard -- the board graciously offers up a comprehensive feature set, its layout and implementation are well executed and the build quality is first rate.

Overclocker Tools

Along with a PORT 80 card by the front panel I/O headers, the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H motherboard provides enthusiast overclockers with a set of voltage read points. If you're so inclined, you can use a multimeter to monitor power levels directly from the board while overclocking.

The voltage read points include: Vcore, CPUVtt, VSA, CPUPll, VDimm, DDRVtt and PCHIO.

Out of the box tweaking is a breeze thanks to a chunky red power switch by the memory slots, it's illuminated so it's easy to find in the dark. Less then handy are the small Reset and CMOS Reset buttons located to the right - it's far to easy to mistakenly reset your CMOS with this close button placement. Gigabyte looses marks on the GA-Z77X-UD4H here.

Reading voltage points with multimeter leads.

The GA-Z77X-UD4H board makes judicious use of passive aluminum heatsinks to cool the CPU VRM and Intel Z77 Express chipset. Furthermore, Gigabyte's 2oz copper PCB acts like a giant heatspreader for surface mount electrical components - but I'm sure you know all about this anyway so let's get onto the Intel Z77 Express chipset, now.
