Comments and Conclusions

Comments:

After being mesmerized and amazed at the incredible speed of the 1.1GHz overclock speed, 1210Mhz is even sweeter. Honestly though, I can't see much of a difference between, 1000Mhz, 1100Mhz, or 1210Mhz, however I'll take it when it comes "free". Just think of it, all of your normal everyday computer routines will fly by quicker than ever before, and will be more responsive than ever before.

Conclusion:

Given the price that the AMD 1Ghz CPU is selling for, there is very little reason why a new computer buyer would not want to purchase one. The benchmarks clearly show that a newer and faster video card is needed for processors past the 1000 MHz range.

The point that I want to make is this; if you CAN overclock, especially without having to raise the voltage much, then the extra performance is just a nice bonus. However, if a Geforce2 Ultra was available at a reasonable price, then surely the overclock from 1000Mhz to 1210 Mhz would have proven to yield a much greater return.

In the end, AMD has provided an incredibly fast processor at an incredibly reasonable price. This kind of value in the electronics industry is something that has never occurred in the history of CPU's! If I had to rate this CPU, considering everything (ignoring overclockability) then I'd give it a perfect score, 5/5... affordable, stable, and faster than what you probably need... Congratulations AMD, you've earned the PCstats Editors Choice Award for the 1.0GHz Thunderbird!
