3DMark2001SE Tweak Guide - Part 2 - PCSTATS
I'm often asked by my friends and family why I spend so much time and money to baby my computer, after all it's an inanimate object that could never love me back...

3DMark Tweak Tips 5, 6 and Conclusion

Now that we have applied all the software tweaks it's time for overclocking. First we're going to be pushing the processor and bus speed as high as possible. With the current setup, we're able to hit a 158 MHz FSB while keeping a 3/4 memory divider (memory is running at 211 MHz) and the CPU will be running at 3.17 GHz - 158 MHz x 20 = 3.17 GHz).

As you can see, I had to up the CPU Voltage to +10% and the DDR Voltage to 2.8V to keep the system stable.

Nice, a 1600 point increase by simply overclocking the CPU and FSB!

Now the last thing to do is overclock the videocard. Here again we're going to use Rage3D Tweaker to overclock the ATi Radeon 9700 Pro videocard.

The highest stable speed we're able run the Radeon 9700 Pro is 400/360 with no artifacts. Let's see what type of score we get after overclocking the card.

Well what do you know... 18616 3DMarks, a new personal high and 8 points higher then my submitted score in the Fastest Webmaster Contest! =)

As you can see, 3DMark2001 SE seems to get it's biggest performance boost from overclocking the videocard (1800 point increase), then overclocking the system (1600 point increase) and finally by using aggressive memory timings (500 point increase).

Tweaking the OS and using a 3rd party tweaker to tweak the image quality only nets us about another 250 points.

Even though the biggest gains come really from overclocking, as you can see software tweaking does help. If you're a good tweaker you can often get higher scores then systems that are faster then yours.

You can check out the Fastest Webmasters here and you can directly compare your score to my best uploaded score here.

If there are tweaks that I forgot or didn't apply, I would greatly appreciate it if you e-mail them to me. =)
