AOpen AK79G MAX nForce2-GT Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
Aiming for the mass markets generally means you get good value with AOpen products, and one such example of this is the AK79G Max nForce2-GT (Crush 18G) motherboard.

The AOpen AK79G Max BIOS

AOpen includes most of the usual tweaks that we would expect from a performance motherboard.

AOpen does not follow the nVIDIA reference designed BIOS, in the Advanced Chispet Features we only find memory tweaks such as CAS Latency, RAS to CAS delay and RAS Precharge time. Since the AK79G MAX has an integrated videocard, we can also adjust the videocard's frame buffer here.

Inside the Frequency/Voltage Control section we have our usual FSB adjustments which go as high as 200 MHz, we can tune the AGP speed independently of the FSB. We also have various memory speed adjustments but as everyone knows, nForce2 runs best when the memory and FSB are in sync. CPU voltage goes as high as 1.85V, DDR voltage up to 2.8V, AGP up to 1.8V and the CHIP (which I assume is VDD) goes to 1.8V. We also have the VGA core frequency adjustments here and we set it to 250 MHz for best performance.

Silent BIOS is a neat feature but I think most users will set all the fans to 100% for peace of mind. Yes the system was quieter when I ran the CPU fan at 70% but the CPU temperature were higher! Up next, you guessed it... benchmarks!
