If you're going to buy a top of the line videocard it'll either have an ATi or nVIDIA logo on the core that's for certain. And as you have seen, nVIDIA's GeForceFX 5950 Ultra was able to match ATi's latest and greatest 9800XT in many of the benchmarks we threw at the videocards. The only real exception being FutureMark's controversial 3DMark03. We're starting to question the usefulness of that benchmark ourselves, and are debating whether to remove it from our benchmark suite altogether. GeForceFX 5950 Ultra based videocards are more affordable than ever, retailing for as little as $540 CDN ($420 US) in the US. With that in mind, the Albatron GeForceFX 5950 UV is a good card that also manages to keep the noise levels down. If noise is a factor for you, you're going to like that heatsink after just a few minutes.

The software package included along with the card is a bit thin; with only PowerDVD, PowerCreator, Duke Nukem: MP and a five game demo CD... Albatron should follow the lead of the other top tier manufacturers and include a better software bundle with their videcards. The Albatron FX5950UV includes all the necessary cables and converters to take advantage of the card's VIVO capabilities which is always a plus. Thrown in for good measure is a DVI to analog converter which allows the end user to use dual analog monitors if they wish.

Stock performance of the Albatron FX5950UV was very good, and the unit we tested even proved to be a decent overclocker as well. Considering the benchmarks we've seen, the Albatron GeForceFX 5950 UV is sure to bring a smile to anyone looking for a sold GeforceFX card for their gaming rig!
