Unreal
Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award
winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound
and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs
the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a
DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.
In these
benchmark results for UT2003, the Albatron GeForceFX is able to provide decent
framerates even with 2x AA and 8x AF enabled!
The Albatron FX5700P Turbo
proves itself
I don't think there is another computer market that is as competitive as the videocard sector. Just look
at how many manufacturers there are with their various different models vying
for your money. It seems like there's almost a limitless number of options out
there to mull over....
Looking at the card in front of me right now, the
Albatron GeForceFX 5700P Turbo, two things are given - it's a good mainstream
card, and at $210 CDN ($150 US) it should easily suit
the gamer on a budget. Looking back at the benchmarks PCstats ran through it,
the Albatron FX5700P Turbo can handle pretty much any game on the market at
1024x768.
Further, if you use your PC as a HTPC, you'll be happy
to hear that Albatron includes all the cables you'll need to take advantage of
the TV-Out feature. The software package is a bit thin but I guess Albatron is
trying to pass along the savings onto the end users.
As you can see from the benchmarks the Albatron
GeForceFX 5700 Ultra performed better than ATi's Radeon 9600XT, its main rival,
for the most part. We did get a decent overclock out of the FX5700P Turbo too,
reaching 504 MHz core and 702 MHz memory. Hopefully end users will be able to go
a bit higher with the 2.5ns DRAM. Ultimately, I'd have to say that the Albatron GeForceFX 5700P Turbo videocard performed well
for its mainstream GPU. It's priced reasonably, and if you're saving all your
pennies for a brand shinny new PCI Express card, this may be just the ticket to
tide you over in the mean time.
