Benchmarks: SiSoft Sandra 2004, Super Pi

SiSoft Sandra 2004 Source: Sandra

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system as well as the individual components. The results are also purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

Units:

it/s it/s MIPS MFLOPS MB/s MB/s

The processor figures are inline with what we'd expect considering the Athlon64 4000+ CPU is running the same speed for all tests. It seems as though the nForce 4 chipset has addressed the memory bandwidth issue that affected the nForce3 Ultra. The nForce4 Ultra bandwidth numbers are about 1.1-1.2GB/s faster, which is very substantial! This should translate into better scores in the rest of the benchmarks.

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The program allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 thousand to 32 million. Our benchmark is set to 1 Million digits and 19 iterations.

Super Pi
1 Million Digits: Seconds Ranking
MSI K8T Neo2-FIR (K8T800 PRO 200/400) 35
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (NF3 Ultra 200/400) 35
Epox 9NDA3+ (NF3 Ultra 200/400) 35
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9 (NF4 Ultra 200/400) 34

Super Pi loves bandwidth, and as we know from Sandra the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9 has a lot of it to give. That's why it's able to complete the calculation 1 second faster than the other motherboards, despite using the same CPU.
