Foxconn BIOS, looking good!

In a very short time, the stock Foxconn motherboard BIOS has come a long way. The BIOS on the Foxconn 975X7AA-8EKRS2H now contain all the tweaks we'd expect from a high performance motherboard, yet when the company first started out its BIOS' seemed to lack all the tweaks. Overclockers will not be disappointed with what's available to play with here.

The DDR2 memory timing adjustments include all the basics. One important thing to note is that the motherboard only supports a maximum DDR2-667 speed. If you set the memory to run at DDR2-800 speeds, you're overclocking the motherboard.

Foxconn include good overclocking and voltage options in the BIOS. The FSB can be adjusted between 200-600 MHz in 1 MHz increments, while the PCI Express frequency can be increased to 200 MHz. Maximum CPU voltage goes 0.3V above stock, DDR2 voltage to 2.4V and Northbridge/Southbridge voltages to 0.24V above stock.

Prelude to Benchmarks

The details of how the Foxconn 975X7AA-8EKRS2H motherboard test system was configured for benchmarking, including the specific hardware, software drivers, operating system and benchmark versions are indicated below. In the second column are the general specs for the reference platforms this Intel 975X based system is to be compared against. Please take a moment to look over PCSTATS test system configurations before moving on to the individual benchmark results.

Please note that we did not test the Foxconn 975X7AA-8EKRS2H's CrossFire capabilities in the following benchmarks. An ATI CrossFire Master card is necessary to enable this feature with a second ATI graphics card, but unfortunately this necessary component was unavailable at the time of this review.
