Pure 32 bit Benchmarks: Office Productivity, SiSoft Sandra 2005

Office Productivity Winstone 2004 Source: Zdnet

Business Winstone 2004 runs real applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete these activities to produce its performance scores.

Content Creation Winstone 2004 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running top, Windows-based, 32-bit, content creation applications in Windows XP.

Office Productivity
Business Winstone 2004: Points Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 25.3
Intel Pentium D 940 27.4
AMD Athlon64 4000+ 32.2
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 33.3
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ 33
AMD Athlon64 FX-62 36.4
Content Creation 2004: Points Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 33.7
Intel Pentium D 940 33.8
AMD Athlon64 4000+ 39.7
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 43.6
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ 41.4
AMD Athlon64 FX-62 46.2

The Office Productivity Winstone 2004 tests put the new Athlon64 X2 5000+ and FX-62 processors in a very good light! Cache plays less of a role here, which is why the Athlon64 X2 5000+ is able to compete with the retired socket 939 flagship Athlon64 FX-60. The fastest processor of the bunch is the Athlon64 FX-62, but then again that's expected of this socket AM2 chip.

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again, purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

Those dual core SiSoft Sandra numbers are very sweet indeed! Memory bandwidth on the new Socket AM2 systems is considerably higher than its DDR counterparts, and even higher than what we're seeing from Intel Pentium D processors.
