Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW 22-inch LCD Display Review - PCSTATS
All widescreen LCD monitors are not created equal, and unfortunately this leads to pretty confused looking consumers as they try to understand why identical screen sizes can differ in price by hundreds of dollars.

Closer Look at the Samsung 2243BW

The Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW has a subtle all-black design that should fit in nicely in corporate environments. The simple and thing bezel around the screen has a non-reflective texture, soft curved edges and very little excessive branding. Care and cleaning of the unit is a breeze, particularly because there aren't any physical buttons to trap dirt, potentially making it a suitable 22" display for medical offices which need to apply stricter cleaning regimes.

Looking at the front of the Syncmaster 2243BW we see a nice widescreen framed by a narrow bezel. The control buttons are located in the lower right corner, the dark gray lettering makes them nearly illegible even in the bright light of this photo. The power button is paired with a small blue LED.

The control panel consists of - menu, magicbright, brightness, source select, auto adjust and power keys. MagicBright has preset scenarios for internet, gaming, text, sports, movie, custom or dynamic contrast.

The rear of the Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW is pictured above. The 2243BW monitor doesn't use a power brick, instead the 120VAC power cord plugs directly into the display. The power button on the front of the screen sets the display into a soft-power off mode that continuously consumes about 1W in standby. There is no hard power off switch.

The display accepts analog VGA and digital DVI video inputs, and comes with each cable. When connected to a PC over the digital DVI cable, the 2243BW is fully HDCP compliant.

The stand that ships with the Syncmaster 2243BW is adjustable in almost every degree. The stand removes easily (just two screws) so you can mount the screen to an armature or flush to a wall. The mounting holes are 100x100mm VESA. One of the more interesting things you can do with the Samsung 2243BW is rotate the big 22" wide screen into a 'portrait' mode, PCSTATS looks at this next....
