Benchmarks: Super Pi, PCMark04, 3DMark2001

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The program allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 thousand to 32 million. Our benchmark is set to 1 Million digits and 19 iterations.

SuperPi
1 Million Digits: Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (i925X 200/400) 41
MSI 915P Neo2 Platinum (i915P 200/400) 41
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 41
ASRock 775V88 (PT880 200/400) 42
VIA PT894 Ref Motherboard (PT894 200/400) 43

Super Pi times are a bit lower than we expected, again we have to remember that we're dealing with a beta motherboard, not a retail sample.

PCMark04 Source: FutureMark

The latest version of the popular PCMark series, PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including whole applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to maintain a smaller installation size while still giving accurate results.

PCMark04:
Overall Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (i925X 200/400) 5422
MSI 915P Neo2 Platinum (i915P 200/400) 5204
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 5112
ASRock 775V88 (PT880 200/400) 5114
VIA PT894 Ref Motherboard (PT894 200/400) 5139
CPU Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (i925X 200/400) 5284
MSI 915P Neo2 Platinum (i915P 200/400) 5034
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 4978
ASRock 775V88 (PT880 200/400) 4929
VIA PT894 Ref Motherboard (PT894 200/400) 4759
Memory Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (i925X 200/400) 5712
MSI 915P Neo2 Platinum (i915P 200/400) 5370
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 5076
ASRock 775V88 (PT880 200/400) 5023
VIA PT894 Ref Motherboard (PT894 200/400) 4679

Things do not go well for the VIA PT894 Reference motherboard here and it lags behind quite badly in the memory portion of this test.

3DMark2001 Source: FutureMark

By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3DMark 2001 SE continues to provide a good overall system benchmark. 3DMark2001 SE was created in co-operation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

3DMark2001SE:
Motherboards Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (i925X 200/400) 23249
MSI 915P Neo2 Platinum (i915P 200/400) 21984
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 22441
ASRock 775V88 (PT880 200/400) 21810
VIA PT894 Ref Motherboard (PT894 200/400) 21530

The VIA PT894 comes in last in 3DMark, but that score is still pretty good!
