Review Notes: Quality of the 1100P-Plus display

Display Test System Configuration:
Video Card: ATI Radeon 64 DDR
Operating System: Windows 98 SE
Display Settings: Color Temp: 6500 Kelvin
Resolution: 1600x1200 pixels
Frequency: 85Hz
Colour: 32 Bit

Geometry: The 1100P-Plus has good geometry. There is a slight distortion of the test grid at the top of the screen, and along the outer edge row to test grid squares. The central region of the screen is perfect.

Brightness / Contrast: Excellent contrast and brightness. Blacks are very dark while the whites are vibrant.

High Voltage: On the three bar test, the trace lines (both vertical and horizontal) remain absolutly steadfast, as is the case on the full screen component test.

Colours: Excellent colours in the white, black, green, blue, green and red test screens.

Convergence: There was a loss of convergence in the upper right hand corner with the colour red. On the pink test grid, blue is off slightly at the outside edges and even partially at the center. The yellow and light blue test grids show excellent convergence.

Focus: The display exhibited very good focus in the center of the screen, and good focus towards the outside edges of the screen - most CRT's have at some problems at the outside corners, so this is very common if not standard to see. Interestingly we noticed some very faint shadowing to the right of the test patterns on the white screen background.

Resolution: Excellent resolution at the center of the screen area, and at the corners. As is the case with most displays, the 1 pixel separated vertical lines showed some blending effects.

Moire: Excellent moire, no visible image effects noted.

Readability: Excellent readability. Again some faint shadowing or streaking was noticeable on the white background to the right of the test pattern.

Jitter: None visible at all.

Display Resolutions: The Hitachi CM828 supports a very broad range of resolutions. The full list of manufacture supported resolutions and frequencies are listed below:

Display Resolutions:
Resolution Freq Hor. Freq Ver. Standard
640x480 31.5kHz 60Hz VGA
720x400 31.5kHz 70Hz VGA
800x600 53.7kHz 85Hz VESA
1024x768 68.7kHz 85Hz VESA
1152x870 68.9kHz 75Hz MAC
1280x1024 91.1kHz 85Hz XGA
1280x1024 80kHz 75Hz XGA
1600x1200 106.25kHz 85Hz XGA
