3DMark2001SE is the latest installment in the 3DMark series by MadOnion. By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics.

Higher numbers denote better performance.

The performance drop when 2xP AA is enabled is about 25% which is a little better then expected. Selecting Quality AA modes seems to degrade performance by an additional 15-20%.

AquaMark is another DirectX 8 benchmark. Using vertex shaders, any card that is DirectX8 compatible will not just have a huge speed boost, the image will also look better. Default test has 24 MB worth of textures.

AquaMark is very demanding on the GPU, only 2xP at 1024x768 gives acceptable frame rates.

Neither 4x forms of AA will work at 1600x1200.

Like in AquaMark, only 1024x768 at 2x Performance AA will yield acceptable framerates. We didn't include the nv15demo since that demo is more of a CPU tester then anything else.
