MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR KT400 Motherboard Review
MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR KT400 Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
Looking around the cramped PCB on the MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR, we can say it's easily the most equipped motherboard we've ever tested!

Benchmarks: Winbench, Sandra 2002

Winbench 99 V1.2 Source: e-Testinglabs.com

WinBench 99 is a subsystem-level benchmark that measures the performance of a PC's graphics, disk, and video subsystems in a Windows environment. WinBench 99's tests can run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows Me systems.

WinBench 99 v1.2 Benchmark Results
KT4 Ultra-FISR Score Ranking
1. Business Disk - 133/400 MHz 6400
1a. Business Disk - 185/370 MHz 6370
2. High-End Disk - 133/400 MHz 18000
2a. High-End Disk - 185/370 MHz 17900
3. Business Graphics - 133/400 MHz 765
3a. Business Graphics - 185/370 MHz 842
4. High-End Graphics - 133/400 MHz 1360
4a. High-End Graphics - 185/370 MHz 1500

Unfortunately, the Samsung HDD doesn't perform very well here in this benchmark that's why the disk scores are so low (but it is a damn quiet drive and that almost makes up for this small shortcoming). As usual, the graphics portion of the benchmark appreciates the extra bandwidth available when overclocking.

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again, purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

Multimedia Benchmark (FSB/Memory)

1. Integer SSE - 133/400 MHz 9053 it/s
1a. Integer SSE - 185/370 MHz 9067 it/s
2. Floating-Point SSE - 133/400 MHz 10608 it/s
2a. Floating-Point SSE - 185/370 MHz 10668 it/s

CPU Benchmark (FSB/Memory)

3. Dhrystone ALU - 133/400 MHz 4612 MIPS
3a. Dhrystone ALU - 185/370 MHz 4645 MIPS
4. Whetstone FPU - 133/400 MHz 2311 MFLOPS
4a. Whetstone FPU - 185/370 MHz 2339 MFLOPS

Memory Benchmark (FSB/Memory)

5. Integer ALU - 133/400 MHz 2050 MB/s
5a. Integer ALU - 185/370 MHz 2807 MB/s
6. Float FPU - 133/400 MHz 2005 MB/s
6a. Float FPU - 185/370 MHz 2603 MB/s

Since there is no CPU overclock it's not surprising that the CPU scores are all about the same. We're a bit surprised at the memory bandwidth though. At the default setting of 133/400 it's about the same as KT333 based motherboards. One thing is for certain, as it stands AMD processors do not get much if any performance boost when given more bandwidth. The bus speed is just too low....
