Benchmarks: QIII Arena & Conclusions

Quake III Arena

Source: ID Software

Quake III Arena is a First Person Shooter (FPS) that revolutionized gaming as we know it. Using multiple light sources and having graphics textures that can fill videocards, even after 3 years it's still able to bring a cutting edge system to its knees.

Quake III obviously prefers the system with more bandwidth. All the benchmarks paint the same picture.

Conclusions on the Iwill P4ES

Iwill's goal with the P4ES appears to have been to make a very stable, feature rich motherboard. In this they have succeeded by all accounts. The P4ES is very future proof and should satisfy all the needs of the average user. Performance and stability are also excellent, but we would expect nothing less from Iwill.

In terms of features the P4ES is very well equipped, it has on board 5.1 audio, IDE RAID, Serial ATA and support for some of the more popular portable media like Compact Flash, Memory Stick and Secure Digital Cards. To top things off, should you need to upgrade your system you do have five PCI slots open to you, so adding peripherals won't be a problem.

While it's great to have all those features, I totally dislike having so many cables run in front of the CPU HSF, and the lower right hand corner is a little IDE cable heavy.

Stability and performance will always be the key factors for average consumers looking for a motherboard to build their new computer around. The Iwill P4ES delivers both very well, all for about $120USD.
