combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide
good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation
with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable
set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using
real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities.
Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3
and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and
Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics.
numbers denote better performance.
3DMark2001's age I'd say it's still good at showing performance differences
between videocards. Here we see that the Gigabyte GV-NV57U128D at stock speeds
scores slightly faster than the Asus Radeon 9600XT.
CodeCretures requires a fully compatible DirectX 8
videocard with preferably 128 MB of RAM to store textures. Codecreatures
utilizes vertex as well as pixel shaders to run their tests.
GV-NV57U128D performs faster than its main rival the Asus Radeon A9600XT at
resolution is turned up, all videocards start to slow down, but the Gigabyte
GV-NV57U128D is still the fastest mainstream videocard here.
