Software and Media Compatibility

The Gigabyte GO-W0808A DVD burner comes bearing a couple software gifts, namely Sonic MyDVD burning software for DVD recording. MyDVD is not quite as powerful as Nero 6, but it's very user friendly. I think new users will find the interface each to use, and experienced users will appreciate that they can just skip through all the wizards.

Sonic MyDVD enables users to burn or copy data DVD's. It helps you create VideoCD's (VCD), edit videos, back up your system, or burn music and data CD's. For those who want to learn a bit more about the features of the software, there's a detailed HTML tutorial and the help file is useful too. Burning CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW media is a snap, although I wish the welcome wizards from each program would not pop up every time the program was started.

Nero's InfoTool is a great utility that shows what features and media are supported by the optical device. Pretty much the only thing the Gigabyte GO-W0808A optical drive does not support is DVD-RAM discs... and Mount Rainier burning.
