Benchmarks: Comanche 4, X2: The Threat, UT2003

Comanche 4 Source: Novalogic

The Comanche 4 benchmark demo is a unique test as it represents a real-world gaming experience. It contains the single player "Eagle's Talon" mission from the game as well as a detailed cinematic. This DirectX 8.1 benchmark demo will measure your system's performance in the standard frames per second format. The benchmark was run with audio disabled.

Comanche 4
640x480 FPS Ranking
ASRock K8 Combo-Z/ASR (Ali M1689 200/400) 78.26
Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 (K8T800 Pro 200/400) 79.88
MSI K8T Neo2-FIR (K8T800 Pro 200/400) 79.6
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (NF3 Ultra 200/400) 78.96
Epox 9NDA3+ (NF3 Ultra 200/400) 79.51
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9 (NF4 Ultra 200/400) 80.54
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI (NF4 SLI 200/400) 79.87

Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 (K8T890 200/400) 80.71

Comanche 4 is not able to tell the systems apart and even the most hardcore gamer could not notice the difference between our test boards in this benchmark.

X2: The Threat Source: Egosoft

A completely rewritten 3D engine based on DirectX8 encompasses many visual effects such as volumetric Nebulae (gas clouds) that have a real impact in the game (you can hide in them) and many new engine, shield, weapon and explosion effects. Objects cast real dynamic 3D shadows! Dynamic DP3 bump mapping allows a previously unseen level of detail.

X2 The Threat
640x480 FPS Ranking
ASRock K8 Combo-Z/ASR (Ali M1689 200/400) 189.189
Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 (K8T800 Pro 200/400) 192.078
MSI K8T Neo2-FIR (K8T800 Pro 200/400) 192.69

Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI (NF4 SLI 200/400) 198.145
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI (NF4 SLI 200/400) 211.237
Albatron K8X890 Pro II (K8T890 200/400) 208.974
Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 (K8T890 200/400) 210.275

There's quite a difference between the slowest system in the test group and the Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 here; ~20fps is a huge difference for a motherboard change!

Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

At 640x480, UT2003 is not able to tell the test systems apart, leaving this benchmark too close to call.
