Benchmarks: 3DMark2001, 3DMark05

By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001 SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

Operating System: Points Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 27305
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 29321
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 28047
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 29711

At both stock and overclocked speeds, 3DMark2001 prefers WindowsXP x64 Edition ever so slightly. These results are rather surprising considering that the 64-bit drivers are new and haven't had the time to mature yet.

3DMark05 is the latest version of the highly favoured 3DMark series. It is the first benchmark to require a DirectX®9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shaders 2.0 or higher!

Overall: Points Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 5696
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 5772
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 5344
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 5352
CPU: Points Ranking
WindowsXP 32-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 4993
WindowsXP 32-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 5541
WindowsXP 64-bit Stock (2.4 GHz) 5147
WindowsXP 64-bit Overclocked (2.64 GHz) 5572

Seems like 3DMark05 prefers sticking to the 32-bit world, even though CPU numbers are actually lower for the 32-bit test than for the WindowsXP x64 Edition system.
