Canada Computers Content Creator X2 Workstation System Review
Canada Computers Content Creator X2 Workstation System Review - PCSTATS
Built around a e 2.4GHz dual core Athlon64 X2 4800+ CPU, and pre-installed with Microsoft WindowsXP Professional, the system should have plenty of potential pixel kicking power.

Benchmarks: Super Pi, Hexus piFast, Cinebench 2003

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The program allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 thousand to 32 million. Our benchmark is set to 1 Million digits and 19 iterations.

1 Million Digits: Seconds Ranking

SuperPi is not a multi-threaded application and here we see that the Athlon64 X2 4800+ based Canada Computers Content Creator X2 completes a 1 million digit test in 36 seconds or the same as an Athlon64 4000+ single core processor. In a 64-bit environment, SuperPi is not able to calculate pi to 1 million digits any faster than with a 32 bit operating system.

Hexus piFast Source: Hexus

Pifast is a small program that computes Pi to a set amount of decimal places and also displays how long it takes. This then gives us a basis for charting the results, giving a performance indicator for new and old technology at a glance.

Lower results are better.

Hexus piFast:

Canada Computers Content Creator X2 WinXP 32 Bit 51.97
Canada Computers Content Creator X2 WinXP 64 Bit 52.06

Like in Super Pi, Hexus piFast does not get any performance boost when running in WindowsXP 64. These times are consistent from what we've seen from the Athlon64 4000+ at stock speeds so that would indicate that piFast is a single threaded test.

CINEBENCH 2003 Source: Cinebench

CINEBENCH 2003 is the free benchmarking tool for Windows and Mac OS based on the powerful 3D software CINEMA 4D RX. The tool is set to deliver accurate benchmarks by testing not only a computer's raw processing speed but also all other areas that affect system performance such as OpenGL, multi-threading, and multiprocessors

Cinebench 2003 results are quite good and Cinebench 2003 gets a decent boost in performance when rendering with two cores. A regular Athlon64 4000+ scores about the same in the Rendering 1 CPU test. It should be obvious that 64 bit migration is going to take some time. Cinebench 2003 is a bit on the "old" side and CPU power actually goes down when running in a 64 bit environment. Cinebench 2003 64 bit edition gets some interesting results but as more 64 bit software is released on the market, I'm sure developers will spend more time eeking out performance.
