Patriot Memory PDC22G8000ELK PC2-8000 DDR2 Memory Review

Patriot Memory PDC22G8000ELK PC2-8000 DDR2 Memory Review - PCSTATS
Abstract: This pair of Patriot's PDC22G8000ELK 1GB DDR-2 memory fits the bill, but these modules are so utterly new, so bleeding edge that you can't have them.

Benchmarks Specs and Office Productivity

Prelude to Benchmarks

The details of how the Patriot PDC22G8000ELK memory test system was configured for benchmarking, including the specific hardware, software drivers, operating system and benchmark versions are indicated below. In the second column are the general specs for the reference platforms this pair of DDR-2 memory is to be compared against. Please take a moment to look over PCSTATS test system configurations before moving on to the individual benchmark results.

The memory will be tested at three different settings: once at DDR2-667 speeds with CL3 settings, once at DDR2-800 with CL4 settings and once at DDR2-1000 at CL5. Please keep in mind that in order for the MSI P4N Diamond motherboard to reach DDR2-1000 speeds, the motherboard had to be overclocked 251 MHz. The motherboard does support the ability to run the memory slightly faster than the FSB, however it does not seem to function properly in so doing, which is why the processor is overclocked so high.

Business Winstone 2004 runs real applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete these activities to produce its performance scores.

Content Creation Winstone 2004 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running top, Windows-based, 32-bit, content creation applications in Windows XP.

2x 1024MB Patriot PDC22G8000ELK (250/1000) 29

The differences between the memory running with DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 speeds is not very significant, but then again memory speeds & timings do not tend to influence office benchmarks by much. The numbers are higher when the system is running with the Patriot PDC22G8000ELK memory at DDR2-1000 because the processor is also heavily overclocked.
