Pure 32-Bit Benchmarks: 3DMark05, 3DMark06

Futuremark 3DMark05 1.2.0 Source: FutureMark

3DMark05 is best suited for the latest generation of DirectX9.0 graphics cards. It is the first benchmark to require a DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shaders 2.0 or higher! By combining high quality 3D tests, CPU tests, feature tests, image quality tools, and much more, 3DMark05 is a premium benchmark for evaluating the latest generation of gaming hardware.

AMD Athlon64 FX-62 7533
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 9727
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (Overclocked to 3.4 GHz) 12410

Please note that the AMD Athlon64 FX-60 is running in SLI mode while the other systems are running a single videocard. The Intel Core 2 Duo does very well in 3DMark05 and it's in the CPU tests where it really impresses. While overclocked to 3.4 GHz the system is able to crack the 12000 point mark. Outstanding!

3DMark06's overall score is very close, it shouldn't be a surprise because games these days are more heavily dependant on videocards. Things are very different in the CPU section, at stock the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 is beaten by the AMD Athlon64 FX-62 but nothing can catch the E6600 system when it is overclocked.
