DX10 Motherboard IGP Benchmarks: Call of Juarez, Crysis

Call of Juarez

Source: Techland

While Call of Juarez pulls off all the classic FPS mechanisms with aplomb, it also features interesting variations that give it the air and feel of a true Western movie. The player has the genuine impression of being a pistol-packing hero in an age when armed confrontation was the daily grind for many adventurers. The Developers have incorporated a classic shooting system as well as two extra game modes.

This DX10 benchmark also demonstrates just how much further integrated graphics need to go before they can really be used for serious gaming. Call of Juarez remains unplayable for both low and high settings on any of the integrated chipsets.... although it DOES actually run.

Lost Planet

Source: Capcom

This fast-paced third person shooter takes you across the vast and frozen landscape of E.D.N III. The ability to fight stealthily on-foot or from within heavily armored Vital Suits offer two unique modes of game play. While on foot, use the zip line to get to strategic enemy annihilating vantage points and discover unexplored areas and weapons. Or, jump into our vital suit or hijack an enemy Snow Pirate's VS to go head to head with enormous and more powerful Acrid foes.

Lost Planet is tough on the nForce 750a SLi IGP, although the Biostar TPower N750 does manage to crank out three frames per second on low quality settings. No other motherboard finished this test on its integrated graphics chip alone.

Crysis 1.2

Source: Electronic Arts

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX 10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista and Windows XP.

Biostar TPower N750 (NF 750a SLI 200/800 AM2 X2 5000+ onboard nF 750a video) 1.66

The Biostar TPower N750's on board graphics scores are a little bit slower than what you'd get with an integrated Radeon HD 3300, but neither are exactly playable in Crysis anyway. The best results are attained by AMD's very own 790GX IGP.

The final thoughts on the Biostar TPower N750 motherboard are next: Is it worth the price?
