ASUS EN9600GT DI/512MD3/A Geforce 9600GT Rev.B Videocard Review - PCSTATS
The Radeon HD 4770 has been widely praised for its lower power consumption, in no small part due to its die-shrink to 40nm. Will NVIDIA's new steppings allow the Geforce 9600GT to compete in terms of power efficiency?

DX10 Videocard Benchmarks: STALKER, Crysis

Stalker Clear Sky

Source: GSC

Stalker: Clear Sky is a prequel to Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. The player assumes the role of Scar, a veteran Stalker mercenary who is rescued by Clear Sky, a faction looking to explore the ruins of the Chernobyl power plant and solve the mystery at the heart of the Zone. The Sun Shafts test is part of Stalker's benchmarking suite, which uses DirectX 10 graphics capabilities and can stress even the fastest videocards.

The Sun Shafts test is incredibly shader intensive, and the 64 Shader processors on the 9600GT just can't cut it in this test. Even the G92 GPU that powers the Geforce GTS 250 does considerably lower in this benchmark.

Crysis 1.2

Source: Electronic Arts

Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX 10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista and Windows XP.

Crysis has always worked well with NVIDIA's older videocards (except when AA is enabled) but that's still not enough to make the game playable at anything but 1280x1024 resolution with the ASUS EN9600GT DI/512MD3/A videocard.
