The PX-128M1S is a 2.5-inch, SATA 3Gb/s drive, which makes it compatible with most notebooks. It can also be installed into a desktop computer with use of a mounting bracket (not included).

When it
comes to read performance the Plextor PX-128M1S does not disappoint, with scores
just under the dual Western Digital WD1001FALS in RAID 0 mode. Random Access
Times only take 0.18ms, much faster than any conventional hard drive can attain.

The
Plextor PX-128M1S doesn't have the fastest sequential write speeds (87.5
MB/s)when tested in Sandra, although its on par with the 1TB WD1001FALS disk. A
0.55ms latency for Random Access time is impressive.
HD Tach
is a physical performance hard drive test for Windows 95/98/ME and Windows
NT/2000. In Windows 9X/ME it uses a special kernel mode VXD to get maximum
accuracy by bypassing the file system. A similar mechanism is used in Windows
NT/2000/XP. HD Tach reads from areas all over the hard drive and reports an
average speed. It also logs the read speeds to a text file that you can load
into a spreadsheet and graph to visually read the results of the test. Higher
bandwidth (MB/s) and lower latencies (ms) are better.

HDTach
tests burst speed, a measure of how fast the system can transfer information
from the hard disk to RAM. Thanks to 64MB of on-board cache, the Western Digital
WD1001FALS drive does well here. However when it comes to sustained (average)
read rates the Plextor SSD manages better Average Read performance (103.4MB/s)
than all but the Western Digital drives in RAID 0. Random access time drops to
0.3ms for the solid state disk while the slower mechanical drives hover around
8-12ms.
