Prelude to Benchmarks

The details of how the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD6 motherboard test system was configured for benchmarking, including the specific hardware, software drivers, operating system and benchmark versions are indicated below.

For the sake of having a common reference point we're also going to be including some benchmarks against motherboards based on Intel's X58 Express chipset, and AMD's 700-series of chipsets. Since differences in processor speed, cores and memory bandwidth will make comparisons between platforms impossible, PCSTATS' benchmark commentary will only focus on the differences between the different Intel P55 Express chipset motherboards.
