Next to the legacy Core i7 920 / X58 platform, the new socket LGA2011 Intel Core i7 3820 / Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 platform offers strong competition in the Multi-core Efficiency Bandwidth sub-test. Compared to everything else, the Sandy Bridge-E PC test system is miles ahead - to be exact, 70%. The difference between x32 and x64 variants of the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 test system is insignificant 4%.

Moving from dual channel to quad channel memory architecture certainly helps this Intel X79 platform pull ahead with a result of 37.8GB/s. Memory latency is pretty consistant between Intel and AMD platforms
