IGP Motherboard Benchmarks

Since the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB motherboard features an on-board HDMI/DP/DVI/analog video ports PCSTATS is including IGP benchmarks compared against several other Intel and AMD IGP graphics solutions. The Intel Core i5 2500K is a 'Sandy Bridge' processor which is equipped with an Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics core. The Core i5 3570 is an 'Ivy Bridge' processor, it has the next generation Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics core which is slightly more powerful than the HD 3000 IGP. The following IGP benchmarks give an actual representation of that "performance" differenc.

Running on IGP alone, the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB test platform scores 1881 (SNB) / 2022 (IVB) against a score of 5267 for the AMD A10-5800K APU based AMD A75/FM2 board. The GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB platform is a bit quicker than the Intel Z68 platforms but the Intel HD3000/HD4000 IGP is really very slow in 3D applications.

3DMark06 says pretty much the same thing; the GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB offers the same Intel IGP graphics performance with an IVB CPU as with a SNB processor installed. The GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB nabs a score of 4472 (SNB) / 4301 (IVB) while the AMD A8-3850 APU gets 6237 and the AMD A10-5800K a high score of 7716. AMD wins here.

The Intel IVB HD 4000 IGP is supposed to be DX11, but so far this IGP has been unable to complete a whole run of 3DMark 11 without error.... The Intel SNB HD 3000 IGP is only DX10.1, so it cant actually run this benchmark. The GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB motherboard is better used with a discrete videocard in this respect, while AMD's new APUs complete the benchmark slowly, but reasonably for IGPs.

Call of Juarez is a tough DX10 title for IGPs. The Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB system scores 26.4FPS (SNB) / 25.6FPS (IVB) at 1024x768 and 5.9FPS (SNB) / 6.1FPS (IVB) at 1600x1200 - both results pale in comparison to the AMD A8-3850 and A10-5800K APU results. The AMD socket FM2 A10-5800K dominates with a 70.5FPS @ 1024x768 and 16.9FPS @ 1600x1200.

In other words, Intel still can't manage decent 3D graphics on it's IGPs while AMD can, but falls behind in overall processing performance. If only Intel and AMD joined forces...

Heaven is brutal on IGPs, regardless of AMD or Intel manufacture.

Stalker is another DX11 title that eats integrated graphics for breakfast. While the AMD IGPs offer 80% better performance, technically, I don't think anyone would call 7FPS playable. Once again we see Intel handed it's hat while AMD IGPs dominate in the graphics arena, relatively speaking.

Lastly, PCSTATS has a full suite of PCMark Vantage benchmarks run on the IGP for you to glance over. These results give a good indication of what to expect if you're planning on building computer systems for an office, using only the IGP to cut down on per computer costs.
