Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

Maximum DDR Overclocking

It's great to see how individual memory stacks up against one another under stock configuration, but we're also going to show how they stack up to each other when overclocked. The results are listed below for some of the recent memory to cross our test bench. The higher the speed, the better.

If you're an AMD user, the OCZ PC3500EB Platinum is certainly an option when you're trying to find memory. While the Intel overclock might seem pretty low, performance was actually very good when you factor in the memory timings used. If you're game is Intel, the OCZ PC3500EB Platinum would suite your needs just fine.

What do we think about this DDR?

Well, it looks like OCZ is at it again - first off the mark with high speed memory that addresses the issue of latency. There are a few other memory companies which market similar 'lower latency' high speed DDR, though the preferred DRAM is Winbond BH-6, BH-5, or CH-5 DRAM. Since Winbond have stopped manufacturing this component, the stocks are soon to disappear from consumer markets.

Each of the two 512MB sticks of OCZ PC3500EB Platinum DDR are rated to run with timings of 2.5-3-2-8 (AMD) and 2.5-3-2-6 (Intel) respectively. In PCstats tests, we found that they had no problems running as quick as 2.5-2-2-5, even up to 230 MHz FSB on both platforms!

Not bad, not too bad at all, at that speed with those timings the memory is faster than most 250+ rated DIMM's which use 3-4-4-8 timings.

Performance of the OCZ PC3500EB Platinum memory at stock and overclocked speeds was very good, and it's safe to say that we were pleasantly surprised with the DIMM performance. With a retail price of $549 CDN ($408 US) for a pair of 512MB stick, the OCZ PC3500EB Platinum dual channel memory kit is actually very aggressively priced all things considered. If you're looking for some good memory, get these bad boys quickly before retailers figure out what's going on, and mark up the price!
