Asus P5N32-SLI Premium nForce 590 SLI Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
The Asus P5N32-SLI Premium motherboard is certainly a looker, and one of the fanciest motherboards we've seen in quite some time.

Overclocking the P5N32-SLI Premium Motherboard

Overclocking Results:
stock max. oc
motherboard speed: 266 mhz

410 mhz

if you're new to Overclocking and not sure what to do, check out these two excellent Guides for some pointers:
Overclocking the CPU and Memory
Overclocking the Videocard

The nVIDIA nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition chipset has an excellent reputation for overclocking. The Asus P5N32-SLI Premium motherboard was equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor and Corsair Twin2X2048-6400C4 memory, so we're pretty sure neither component will hold the motherboard back. To make sure, the memory was set to run at DDR2-400 MHz mode.

Overclocking started easily and the P5N32-SLI Premium easily passed 300 MHz, 350 MHz, and the 400 MHz FSB mark.... well almost. At 365 MHz the Asus P5N32-SLI Premium started to show some signs of instability. Increasing the Northbridge voltage to 1.5V fixed that issue and allowed the board to continue on. At 390 MHz, both Northbridge and Southbridge chipset voltage had to be increased to maintain stability.

In the end, the Asus P5N32-SLI Premium topped out at 410MHz, making it by far one of the fastest overclocking Intel Core 2 Duo motherboards PCSTATS has tested! With the huge voltage options, the P5N32-SLI Premium has the potential to make blistering overclocks happen. The only advice we can give you is to double check that the Northbridge and Southbridge are cooled very well.

Examining Memory Options in the BIOS

Considering that the Asus P5N32-SLI Premium is a high end motherboard, we were surprised at the lack of memory timing adjustments available here. There are really only the basics; CAS latency to RAS, CAS Delay, Row Precharge and Addressing mode. This is a little disappointing.

The Frequency Control section is a bit light too. There are options to turn on FSB and Mem Turbo mode, as well as adjusting the PCI Express frequency. The motherboard frequency can be adjusted between 264-525 MHz, in 1 MHz increments (4 MHz QDR bus speed). The memory frequency can be adjusted independently from the system clock speed, from 400-1600 MHz.

The CPU core voltage goes as high as 1.8V (1.6V + 0.2V Vcore Over Voltage), memory to 2.55V, HT voltage as high as 1.35V. Elsewhere, CPU VTT voltage can be tweaked up to 1.55V, Southbridge Core voltage to 1.65V and Northbridge voltage to 1.75V.
