Have you ever used a
laser mouse? Have you ever seen a Laser Mouse? If you answered no, then fear
not, the Acrox Trigger (RF Wireless Handy Track ball) Mouse is here. The Acrox
"Laser Mouse as we prefer to call it around here is a wireless pointing device
useful for presentations. It operates by radio frequency to a receiver which
plugs into the PS/2 mouse port on any computer. The unit operates on two AAA
batteries and has an operatind distance of about 20 feet. With its built-in
laser pointing device you can move around during a presentation and use the
laser pointer to bring attention to a chart or figure on a projection screen.
Cursor control comes thanks to a track ball, with the top of the phaser like
device also having a left and right set of buttons. Below is a trigger button
which takes the place of the standard left-hand button on a mouse. The laser can
be activated by a central button located just behind the track ball.
If you don't work in the corporate world, and have no need for a portable
wireless way to control a computers cursor from a far you could still use
the Laser Mouse quite effectively to surf the computer from afar. Believe it or
not, it really only takes a few minutes to become proficient at surfing through
webpages from a couch. Granted you can't type in anything, but at least you can
look around.
I would have to say that my first impressions of this portable RF-based pointer device were set aside when I realized how useful
and easy it was to operate. No batteries are required for the signal receiver, and
both components can be easily transported for your next out of town
presentation. Best of all the, the built-in laser is just too much fun to
pass up! All in all, not a bad little piece of kit.
