The On Screen Controls

In addition to the range of manual controls on the camera, by clicking on the menu button, the photographer has a host of options at their fingertips to further adjust the camera.

We've laid out a few screen shots below with a very brief description to give you some idea of the level of customization of this camera.

Frame for composing a shot. Adjusts the flash into one of five modes.

Turns the macro feature on or off. Focal range is 10-80cm. and digital zoom focal distance is equivalent to 38mm - 48mm at 1M settings. With macro on, the lens is fixed to a wide-angle zoom setting with only digital zoom available. With the timer enable, the user will have 10 seconds from when the shutter release is clicked to when the camera will take a picture. A small LED on the front of the FinePix 2800 blinks to indicate the timer status.

Voice caption allows the user to record a 30 second caption after each shot. Sound quality is not that great, but it could be a useful feature if you do not have time to write down info about a shot. Sound files are recorded in wave format and take up Approx. 240Kb. The Option menu allows the user to select what type of camera setting they want to use - from continuous to manual, to the default auto.

With the camera set to manual photography there are a few extra options which allow the user to select between different exposure compensations, and white balance to suit the particular needs of the environment.

Resolution changes are limited to 2M, 1M and VGA. Only 2M has fine, normal and basic settings. 1M gives the user a choice between fine and normal, and VGA is set to just normal.

Frames can be deleted all at once, or individual on the FinePix 2800 by setting the camera to playback mode. This works well, and saves the trouble of deleting entire cards one image at a time.
