Albatron GeForce PC6600 Videocard Review
Albatron GeForce PC6600 Videocard Review - PCSTATS
Using the NV43 GPU, the Albatron card is backed up by 128MB of 5ns Hynix DDR memory. Not a lot, but it should suffice for the average gamer.

Advanced Benchmarks: UT2003, Conclusions

Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

Here we see again that things start to go downhill quite quickly with higher AA settings. The game is perfectly playable with AA and AF enabled though.

What a value videocard!

nVIDIA's best competes very well with ATi's, but up until now their mainstream and budget solutions were quite, well... weak. While we would all love to use the best of everything, not everyone can afford such luxuries. Considering that companies make most of their money in the mainstream & budget markets, nVIDIA had quite a problem on their hands. Based on the NV40 core, the GeForce 6600 GPU is very capable and offers gamers on a budget an alternative that isn't lousy in performance, or lacking in features.

With a retail price of just $161 CDN ($130 US), the Albatron GeForce PC6600 is a steal, and great value for those who are looking for something that doesn't break the bank. The card does not come with much software, only Arx Fatalis, a five game demo CD and WinDVD, but with the money you save you can go and buy yourself any games you'd like! More important than the software suite is the fact that the Albatron GeForce PC6600 offers users both S-Video / composite, and component output! As more and more people discover the great multimedia powers of PCs, these feature will become more significant.

We had quite a bit of luck overclocking the core, but the memory was pretty much a no go. Despite the relatively low memory overclock, the performance boost to the Albatron PC6600 was quite substantial, and in many cases will allow users to run games well at one resolution setting higher!

The Albatron GeForce PC6600 is not the fastest videocard we've ever tested, but all things considered it's easily one of the best in value. It totally walks over Gigabyte GV-RX60X128V which is based on the ATi X600XT GPU, as well as the nVIDIA based MSI PCX5750-TD128! In fact the Albatron GeForce PC6600 is almost able to compete against the Albatron Trinity 5900, which is officially a higher end card. The PC6600 should be able to handle pretty much any game on the market including Doom 3 at 1024x768, and that ain't bad!

If you've spent most of your money jumping on the PCI Express bandwagon and don't have enough to get that awesome videocard just yet, make sure you check out the Albatron GeForce PC6600. I'm sure it won't disappoint and it will definitely give you your money's worth!
