Unreal
Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award
winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound
and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs
the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a
DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.
Well the
numbers say it all. Even with AA and AF enabled, hardcore FPS gamers will be
pleased with the PowerColor X700 PRO's performance.

Mainstream cards sure offer a
lot of value these days, certainly more so than the previous two generations
ever did. In many of the tests that we ran, the PowerColor X700 PRO was faster
than the previous generation's top of the line cards like the Radeon 9800 XT and
GeForceFX 5950 Ultra.
Based on ATi's Radeon X700 PRO core and is backed up by
128MB of Samsung GDDR3 memory, the PowerColor X700 Pro is only compatible with
PCI Express motherboards so AGP users will have to get their videocard fix
elsewhere.
The card is compatible with both analog and DVI monitors
as well as supporting S-Video/Composite and component output. That means you can
connect pretty much anything to the PowerColor Radeon X700 PRO be it computer
monitor or HDTV. PowerColor includes all the necessary cables and bits that
you'll need to take advantage of these goodies as well.
The performance of the PowerColor X700 PRO was pretty fast. In all the
benchmarks that we used, the PowerColor X700 PRO was consistently just behind
this generation's top of the line cards. This is amazing when you consider that
this card is targeted towards the average gamer. The card overclocked quite
well, and showed some quite tangible benchmark improvements when pushed, so it
would be a good buy for the enthusiast on a budget.
The software package is on the thin side, with only the
Cyberlink DVD Studio and Hitman Contracts being included. Retailing for around
$280 CDN ($230 US), it's also one of the
more expensive X700 Pro based cards on the market. Still, PowerColor does a lot
of things well here, and I'm sure that this card would satisfy the average gamer
very well indeed.
