Overclocking Results:

The Gigabyte GV-RX18L256V-B videocard comes with its core clocked at 500 MHz, and memory at 495 MHz by default. ATi videocards always have weird memory speeds.

Finding a program that would work with the Gigabyte GV-RX18L256V-B was a bit of a challenge since most programs on the market are not compatible with the new core. After a bit of a search, I found that ATi Tool 0.25 beta 9 would function with the card.

Starting with the core first, its clock speed was increased in 5 MHz intervals. Things did not go very far unfortunately, and at 525 MHz artifacts started to appear. Lowering the GPU speed to 521 MHz solved those visual problems. The Radeon X1800 XL core overclock was a bit disappointing, as it basically maxed out at 521 MHz. Next up was the Samsung K4J55323QG-BC1µ GDDR3 memory.

Starting at 990 MHz (495 MHz DDR) the memory speed was pushed a bit more aggressively, in 10 MHz intervals. The Samsung GDDR3 memory was better for overclocking than the R580 core, but did go very far either. The maximum speed it would run was 1080 MHz. Anything higher and artifacts would start to appear on ATi Tool's artifact detector.
