With performance in mind, we're going to compare the maximum overclocked results of the various DDR2/3 memory modules PCSTATS has tested in the past which are listed below. Remember, just because memory is clocked fast doesn't mean it's the best thing for a computer. Timings are also important, and getting the right ratio of both is the real key to performance based overclocking!

Considering the OCZ ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth kit is 4GB in capacity, its overclocking abilities are definitely not bad at all. It's the fastest 4GB kit PCSTATS has tested so far, and considering its price, it really does offer consumers quite a bit!

OCZ's got some fancy memory here!

If you're in the market for some memory, now is an excellent time. Prices for DDR2 memory have never been cheaper and you can pick up high performance 2GB kits for less than $100, and even 4GB kits previously unheard of prices.

With a retail price of $139 CDN ($139 USD, £69 GBP), the 4GB OCZ ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth memory kit is an absolute steal. You can tell that OCZ built this memory with the enthusiast in mind.

The custom ReaperX HPC heatsinks do an excellent job at cooling the DDR2 BGA DRAM modules and even at stock speeds you can feel them work. The heatpipe heatsink that OCZ installs on its memory here is probably more effective at cooling than Flex XLC waterblocks on its higher end DIMMs.

At stock speeds the OCZ ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth memory performs very well. It keeps up with high performance 2GB memory kits without much difficulty. In terms of overclocking the OCZ ReaperX HPC memory was the best 4GB kit we've tested to date, reaching 1140 MHz with tight timings and 1240 MHz with looser timings.

While the benchmarks show minimal gains due to the memory overclock, please keep in mind that the processor had more than enough bandwidth with the memory running at stock speeds. To truly get more out of memory overclocks, one has to increase the speed of the FSB and CPU clock speed as well.

About the only thing to complain about is that the memory is quite large and very difficult if not impossible to install in adjacent memory slots, so if you need to upgrade, that may be hard to do in the future. For the price though and considering that the ReaperX is 4GB in size, we doubt you'll need to expand that anytime soon. ;-)
