On Screen Display

As with many high end monitors today Samsung has opted to pack the 750s full of features accessible through an On Screen Display (OSD). Typically, the menus are icon centered and maintain support for multiple languages. Oddly it seems that every monitor manufacturer uses just about the same "blue screen blue" instead of something more friendly on the eyes... Not all 17" monitors come with OSD's, in fact the one I'm looking at right now uses the old menu-select by blinking LED technology, that while effective limits options to about 5 main features.

Features of the onscreen display include:
  1. Direct Access Features
    • Position
    • Size
    • Pincushion/Trapezoid
    • Parallel/Rotation
  2. Main Features
    • Brightness
    • Contrast
    • Horizontal Position
    • Vertical Position
    • Horizontal Size
    • Vertical Size
    • Pincushion
  3. Geometry
    • Trapezoid
    • Parallelogram
    • Rotation
    • Pinbalance
    • V-Linearity
  4. Language
    • English
    • German
    • French
    • Italian
    • Portugeese
    • Spanish
    • Svenska
    • Russian
  5. Advanced
    • H-Moire
    • V-Moire
    • Video Input Level
    • Colour Temperature
    • Halftone
  6. Miscellaneous
    • Zoom
    • Degauss
    • Recall
    • Display Timing
    • OSD lock/Unlock

The controls panel on the front of the monitor's bezel consists of the following keys: Exit key, plus/minus and contrast/brightness, menu button, and a big old power button with activity LED. Features are nice but does this monitor stack up to the big 19-inchers that are lurking on a desk nearby?
