Hands On: VideoLAN Releases Beta VLC for Android App
Speaking of playback; for the video testing, I tried the VLC for Android application with a 720p video recorded using the Samsung Infuse 4G`s own camera as well as a DVD rip of the movie Live Free or Die Hard. The DVD rip was encoded using the H.264 codec in an MP4 container with a bitrate of about 1500 kbps. After enabling hardware acceleration, the VLC app was able to play back the DVD rip acceptably (there were a few artifacts and audio issues but it was watchable)."

[Tech ARP] Slow Menus In Adobe Photoshop CS6 Rev. 2.0
Those who have tried Adobe`s Photoshop CS6 beta or the recently-released final version may come across a really odd problem - very unresponsive menus. These symptoms will only occur when there`s an open file, and it seems to only affect notebooks with switchable graphics (Intel HD Graphics paired with an AMD or NVIDIA graphics card). Perhaps that`s the reason why there has been so little noise about this problem online. We think we figured out what was causing this problem... *In this update, we added our experience upgrading the Intel HD Graphics driver, and the effect it had on this problem.*"

BitDefender Total Security 2013 Review @ TechReviewSource.com
BitDefender Total Security 2013 provides a solid alternative to other better-known security products out there. It definitely had its work cut out to try to better those other products and the Romanian software company seemed to have been successful on most counts. It runs smoothly and has some really unique and neat features to help set it apart from the rest."

[Tech ARP] Slow Menus In Adobe Photoshop CS6 Rev. 3.0
Those who have tried Adobe`s Photoshop CS6 beta or the recently-released final version may come across a really odd problem - very unresponsive menus. These symptoms will only occur when there`s an open file, and it seems to only affect the new Intel Ivy Bridge notebooks with switchable graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4000 paired with an AMD or NVIDIA graphics card). Perhaps that`s the reason why there has been so little noise about this problem online. We think we figured out what was causing this problem... *In this update, we detailed the final, confirmed fix for the slow menu display problem in Adobe Photoshop CS6 with Graphics Processor enabled.*"

[Tech ARP] Why Windows Photo Viewer Keeps Crashing
I recently upgraded to a Dell Inspiron 14R Special Edition. Yes, it`s the new model that comes with the new 3rd-Generation Intel Core i7 processor. It`s a ton better than the previous Dell Inspiron 14R, but that`s another story for another time... Following the unofficial power user SOP (okay, there`s no such thing, but you know what I mean!), I did a clean installation of Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 and loaded all the updates. Once I started to use the notebook though, I started noticing something wrong with Windows Photo Viewer - it would crash randomly and very often. There was no pattern to the crashes. Sometimes it happens on loading Windows Photo Viewer. Sometimes, it crashes when I switch to a different picture. It can even happen if I leave it displaying a photo. It didn`t matter if the photo was large (unedited photos from my Nikon DSLR), or small, edited pictures I use for my articles. It just crashes. And this is the error message that appears whenever it crashes..."

Cyberlink PhotoDirector 3 Software Review @ Hi Tech Legion
Cyberlink PhotoDirector 3 combines professional tools and ease of use for both novice and advanced users. PhotoDirector 3 is a big update from Cyberlink`s previous PhotoDirector 2011. The first round of updates is to its importing and management abilities. Cyberlink has added 16-Bit color support, editing abilities to IPTC metadata, and a fully customizable toolbar. The next round of updates was to the manual adjustments to photos. There is now more control with lighting, color, HSL, white balance, sharpness, noise reduction, and lens distortions. One big addition is the perfect portrait and precise editing ability. There are tools like skin smoother, wrinkle remover, tooth brush, and eye blinger that can make dull pictures look professionally done. There are also extract and compose tools for easy object removal and addition.///"

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 Premium Edition @ TechwareLabs
Back in the misty dawn of the modern age, voice recognition software and the technologies that incorporated it fell so far short of the advertised and often over-hyped mark, that bummed out users were left to cry in their beer. We wanted so much for the technology to be usable, for it to work! For speech to be a serious input source of actual utility, like a keyboard or mouse."

ocaholic presents: The Office Spider meets Duke Nukem @ ocaholic
During my work I do a lot of testing and benchmarking. Day after day I`m analyzing benchmark results and the furrows on my face keep getting deeper and deeper. Today I decided to do something completely different. For quite a while I`ve had a Lian Li T1 spider case, well packed in a box under my table and I didn`t really know what to do with it. But today was the day to make a very decent office PC out of some components I`ve had here."
