Humble Indie Bundle 7 Review
     Sat, Jan 05 2013 | 11:46A | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
For those of you who do not know, Humble Bundle is a company that typically offers bundles of games from independent developers. Occasionally the games come with soundtracks, are ready to play on Windows, Mac, or Linux computers, and more often than not, DRM-free. As impressive as that combination is, what makes the offerings from Humble Bundle always interesting is the company`s `Pay-What-You-Want` model. Even though all together the Humble Indie Bundle 7 contains around $140 of content, you can get most of the games for just one penny. Pay over $1 and you get Steam keys for the games. If you beat the average of current sales, you get all $140 of content. To top it off, you decide where your money goes. When you purchase a bundle you may indicate how much of what you pay goes to the individual developers, to Humble Bundle itself, and to two non-profit organizations; the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child`s Play Charity."

Adobe's Flash Updater: Bloated, Confusing & Shady
     Mon, Dec 10 2012 | 12:00P | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Being one of the most prolific sources of security vulnerabilities in Windows and other platforms, Adobe Flash Player needs no introduction. In spite of that reputation, and the fact that the rest of the industry is moving away from Flash, Microsoft surprised many of us by bundling the software with its operating system for the first time with Windows 8. This is after previously announcing that they wouldn't allow Flash in the Metro version of Internet Explorer 10 -- a decision the company later reversed. I was glad when the Adobe Flash Player Updater was released in March. Finally the day had come when our machines would be silently updated with the latest Flash version... or so I thought. It'd just seem Adobe is making all possible efforts to make its software more bloated and less attractive to all consumers, here's why.

McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013 Review @ TechReviewSource.com

McAfee`s developers are serious about the Plus in McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013. In addition to basic antivirus functionality, it offers firewall protection, vulnerability scanning, system cleanup, and more. However, the core antivirus technology doesn`t score as well as many in independent tests and our own tests."

Nero Kwik Overview and Tutorial @ Hi Tech Legion
     Wed, Dec 05 2012 | 9:09P | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Nero has a solution to this problem with their new application for Android NeroKwik. The NeroKwik application is designed to provide the user with one stop to view all of their photos on their device, Facebook, and even between several devices. It is set up in a way that allows you to intelligently add photos to what they refer to as tapestries for easy viewing and sharing with others. At the time of this article NeroKwik is only available in a free version for Android 4+. But Nero plans to support other devices, along with the release of a premium version with more features and unlimited sharing between devices in Q1 2013."

Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Pro Review - BCCHardware
     Mon, Nov 26 2012 | 11:23A | Software | PermaLink

The Paragon Hard Disk Manger 12 Professional software is pretty much exactly that. It`s professional and works as advertised in everything we tried. I know that no software is perfect, but this came about as close as anyone could get when it comes to backing up, moving and managing your drives and more. For drive copying, image creating, archiving and more the HDM12 suite performs like a champ. . ."

Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 Review @ TechReviewSource.com
     Thu, Nov 22 2012 | 8:56A | Software | PermaLink

In Windows 8, it`s still true that Internet Explorer 10, leads a double life. You can run it as a new-style full screen app or you can run it in the traditional Windows desktop view. Underneath, however, both of these as well as the Windows 7 edition use the same rendering engine. Currenty, the Windows 7 version is dubbed a preview, and it`s available for download."

Mozilla Firefox 16 Review @ TechReviewSource.com

After a somewhat fitful initial release, Firefox 16 (actually 16.0.1) is now the prevailing version of Mozilla`s independent, open-source browser. You might say that the update only adds new features for developers, but those in turn can mean new Web capabilities for ordinary browser users."
