?Norton 360 Version 6.0 gives you all the same protective features as Norton Internet Security 2012, with a friendlier face. You also get flexible backup, including 2GB of online storage. Tuneup features are also useful, especially the diagnostic report. This full-featured suite is definitely a good choice.?"

CyberLink PowerDVD 12 Review @MissingREmote
     Tue, Jan 31 2012 | 11:01A | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
When we were at CES, CyberLink was showing a beta version of PowerDVD 12. There were some advancements in the product versus its predecessor, PowerDVD 11 - most notably automatic refresh rate switching, but the best part was that they gave me a copy to bring back and test on a variety of systems to provide a preview of what PowerDVD 12 has to offer. As much as I would have liked to publish this earlier, they asked that we not until today. This turned out to be a good thing though, because there was time to create a few videos and take a much more thorough look at the product than would have been possible otherwise; just keep in mind that the copy that was tested was not the final revision so some of the issues may not be present in the real release and I was not able to get the APK for their DLNA application for my Kindle Fire so that aspect will only be covered briefly. *"

TurboTax Premier Online (2011) Review @ TechReviewSource.com
     Fri, Jan 27 2012 | 9:33A | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
?As much as personal tax preparation software and Web sites have evolved over the last 20-plus years, they still can`t anticipate every possible user question or accommodate every imaginable tax scenario. But Intuit`s TurboTax family of sites comes closer than anyone. The big takeaway this year is not what`s in TurboTax. It`s where it`s available: everywhere.?"

RAGE the PC Game by id Software @ Benchmark Reviews
     Sat, Dec 24 2011 | 9:38P | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
At Benchmark reviews, we thought it might be interesting to offer a light hearted article on the new PC version FPS/RPG hybrid game RAGE, from id software, the creators of DOOM. I`ve played a lot of PC games since I started using computers. I`m not saying I`m a gamer, because I`m not. But, I have a good feel for how games have matured since DOOM, which was my first PC game. I`ve been luke warm with the entire genre of FPSs, MMOGs, and RTSs for a long time, with few exceptions. RAGE is one of those exceptions. Aside from video driver troubles early on, RAGE has a lot to offer and seems like a game inside of a game, inside of a game. This isn`t a review, but more of a personal musing on the game itself. So, take off your armor and come on in for some fun..."

Synology DS411 Rundown - XSReviews
     Mon, Nov 21 2011 | 2:29P | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Storing data away from your main PC is important, we`ve well established that by this point. It`s one step in data protection that everyone should be taking to make sure that no matter what happens you don`t lose your all important files. Synology are one of the companies producing NAS drives, network attached storage options that offer up a variety of features -- and some pretty decent software -- to help your data stay protected. Today I`m looking at another Disk Station from the firm, the DS411."

Chrome OS is a retail product
     Sat, Aug 20 2011 | 9:03A | Software | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"Subjectively, my experience agrees with the Peacekeeper benchmark results. While web browsing was reasonably enjoyable, there were noticeable delays at times, particularly when opening web pages. I also found that many web apps and games, felt slow. The Entanglement puzzle game, which came pre-baked in our review unit, was virtually unplayable because of its haphazard, stuttering performance."
