HIS Radeon HD 7870 IceQ Turbo Overclocked Video Card Review
     Fri, Mar 30 2012 | 8:46A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
The latest card to get the IceQ treatment from the team over at HIS comes in the form of the HD 7870 IceQ Turbo. When it comes to HIS cards, this is a model that carries our two favorite words. IceQ that lets us know we`re dealing with a new cooler and Turbo which lets us know we`re dealing with a pre-overclocked card. While we`ll get into more details on the overclock soon, because the Turbo clock on offer from the HIS card was similar to that of the PowerColor PCS+ HD 7870 we`ve just looked at, we figured we`d fire up some overclocking software and see how the new HD 7870 goes in the overclocking department; an area we haven`t looked in yet."

HIS Radeon HD 7770 iCooler GHz Edition 1GB Video Card Review
     Fri, Mar 30 2012 | 8:31A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Firing up 3DMark 11 we ended up with a score of P3580 which is exactly what we`d expect from the HD 7770. It`s not a bad score, but our issue has always been compared to the HD 6870 which sits at a similar price point at the moment, the HD 7770 comes off looking quite overpriced. What was really nice though was the cooler which let the GPU sit at 35c when idle and still quite a cool 51c at load. More surprising, though, was the cooler which came in at 54.4dB at idle and 55.1dB at load. These are good numbers which see this as the second coolest running card and quietest active cooled card we`ve tested recently."

Gigabyte HD 7770 OC with CrossFire @ Bjorn3D
     Fri, Mar 30 2012 | 6:08A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Gigabyte`s HD 7770 OC is the cheapest factory overclocked HD 7770 available. It strikes a good balance of price and performance. We put the card to the test and also pair it up with XFX HD 7770 to assess its CrossFire performance."

MSI Radeon HD 7970 Lightning review
     Fri, Mar 30 2012 | 5:48A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
We review the MSI Radeon HD 7970 Lightning. What a product to look at, the R7970 lightning has a very rare design, comes with only the best components, has voltage monitoring headers, comes pre-overclocked (extensively at 1070 MHz) and allows to be voltage tweaked at many levels. To pursue Eyefinity they have made the card Eyefinity6 compatible, by use of four DisplayPort connectors and two single link DVI connectors you can get six monitors running. Though realistically nobody does that as you have that ugly bezel from left to right smack down in the middle of you field of view. There`s another feature though, to give the product a little more `niche` MSI implemented a small add-on board that is called a GPU-reactor which functions as a power supply module which, when installed on the back of the GPU. HIS Radeon HD 7750 1GB Video Card Review
     Thu, Mar 29 2012 | 4:25P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Today we`re looking at the HIS HD 7750 which comes in at $109.99 putting it in that lower mid-range sector. As time has gone on, though, we`ve seen these cheaper cards offer us quite strong performance. We felt a little disappointed with how AMD launched the new series, though, and the HD 7770 on a whole due to the price point. We wonder if the cheaper HD 7750 can stand as it hits this lower price point. Before we find out what kind of performance we`re able to get out of the new model, the first thing we need to do is take a look at the package. From there we`ll move into checking out the card and then we`ll take a closer look at the specifications and see how the model compares to its big brother, the HD 7770."

ASUS HD7970 DirectCU II Top @ ocaholic
     Thu, Mar 29 2012 | 9:32A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Usually ASUS releases its GPUs in three steps. First of all there are the boring reference cards with an ASUS badge. Secondly there are the funnier DirectCUII cards whereas one of which is sitting in our test system today. Last but not least there are the crazy Matrix cards. Although, this time already the DirectCUII card has got some of the Matrix madness, which we will explain later. Never the less standard for the DCII models is the gigantic triple slot cooler. So, this thing sounds quite interesting."

Posted by: STAFF
After a rather long hiatus, NVIDIA has finally launched their Kepler microarchitecture and its flagship graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680. Amongst Kepler`s many new features and improvements is the NVIDIA GPU Boost Technology. We had earlier posted an overview of the new NVIDIA GPU Boost Technology in our tech report of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680, but thought we should go into the details of the NVIDIA GPU Boost as there is this perception that it`s the same thing as Intel`s Turbo Boost Technology. Well, it`s not, as you will see in a moment. Let`s get right down to it."

No doubt many of you just finished reading or writing a review of Nvidia's Kepler. Rather than add another review to your inbox, our article on Kepler focuses purely on analysis - on understanding the nature of Kepler and the implications for the future. Our look at Kepler focuses on architectural changes to the shader core that emphasize graphics performance and the enhanced power management. Based on our analysis of Nvidia's 28nm GPU strategy, we project a new shader core for throughput computing products and discuss the expected features.

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 OC
     Mon, Mar 26 2012 | 9:03A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
As for Gigabyte, they have taken the new Radeon HD 7870 and made it even better with their upgraded WindForce 3X cooler and redesigned PCB, both of which appear to provide much greater overclocking headroom. For roughly just $10 more than the MSRP, we feel gamers are getting a real bargain with the GeForce Radeon HD 7870 OC.
