GIGABYTE Announces “Initial K” Contest Winners on HWBOT

GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions today announced the winners of the “Initial K” overclocking competition hosted on HWBOT.org, with SuicidePhoenix the winner, and CoolBits and Mad22 coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Since this is the year of the rabbit in Asian astrology which symbolizes "quick" and the Easter bunny made his appearance in the West in April, we thought it would be fun to have a challenge to see just how quick overclockers were with our P67 motherboards.

As the title of the contest suggests, the GIGABYTE "Initial K Contest" focused on Intel’s K sku CPUs.

Split into 6 stages including Max CPU Clock, SuperPI 1M, SuperPI 32M, Wprime 32M, Wprime 1024M and Pifast. Contestants who placed in the top eight for each stage received points and the top 3 point earners after all 6 stages were declared the winners. Congratulations to the winners. As competition winner, SuicidePhoenix will receive a GIGABYTE X58A-OC motherboard, with Coolbits and Mad222 receiving GIGABYTE P67A-D3-B3 motherboards as runners up.

The State of Overclocking on Intel Motherboards
     Fri, Apr 29 2011 | 9:01A | Overclocking | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
I'd like to think that I'm the kind of person who doesn't hold a grudge, but after bouts of unsuccessful overclocking runs with Intel motherboards in the past, I just about gave up. Until I decided to investigate further to see where things stood today. Have my opinions changed after overclocking with Intel's DP67BG this past weekend?

During CES 2011, MSI held the first of what will likely be a long line of overclocking events throughout this year. Called the Master Overclocking Arena, these events bring together some of the world's best overclockers in a multi stage competition of ultra low temperates and sky high clock speeds. Hardware Canucks was on hand to cover the MOA's North American leg in Las Vegas.

Gainward GeForce GTX 570 1280MB Goes Like Hell Video Card Overclocked
     Fri, Jan 14 2011 | 12:01P | Overclocking | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"Gainward offer us a great overclock out of the box when it comes to the GTX 570, but as we always try to do with the first version of a new model, we see just how far we can overclock it. At the moment we don't have any voltage adjustment ability when it comes to the core, so our overall overclock might not be as strong as it could be when we see future versions of MSI Afterburner. But we wouldn't be bringing you this article today if we didn't get at least a decent bump out of the card. Since we've already covered the Gainward GTX 570 1280MB Goes Like Hell edition in our standalone review here, we won't go into any real details on the card. Instead we'll just quickly cover the stock clocks the card carries; and more importantly the overclock we managed to achieve."

A broken or cracked LCD screen makes a laptop utterly useless, good thing PCSTATS can show you how to replace that busted laptop screen with a minimum of fuss and for less money than a service center charges. PCSTATS will be fixing a cracked LCD screen on a Lenovo T530 ThinkPad notebook, the general procedures outlined here work for any notebook though.
