Auvio Bluetooth Portable Speaker Review @ TechwareLabs
     Thu, Feb 28 2013 | 9:19A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Does your smartphone, tablet, or laptop need some extra oomph in the audio department? If youre like me, I use my smartphone for enjoying streaming music while I am working around the house, at the beach, or on the patio enjoying some drinks with friends. However, with the mantra of mobile devices being smaller/slimmer is better, the built-in speakers leave a lot to be desired. Fortunately, some companies have taken notice and now offer portable speakers for your mobile devices."

JDSLabs`s O2+ODAC combination combines two designs by NwAvGuy with excellent build quality and a sturdy enclosure. The O2+ODAC sells at just $285 which, performance considered, is a bargain. We test whether this amplifier and DAC combination is really the giant slayer it is made out to be!"

Ineo Alienvibes S101 2.0 Desktop Speakers Review @ Hi Tech Legion
     Sun, Feb 24 2013 | 1:17P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
The Alienvibes S101 desktop speakers are one choice that offer you a 2.0 speaker system with the goal of accurate sound reproduction. The Alienvibes S101 feature all wooden cabinet construction for more accurate vibrations and a plastic front bezel that has a high gloss finish on it for style. The speakers themselves produce five watts of power each with a peak output of twenty watts for the pair. The main speaker has a power on off switch, volume control, auxiliary headphone jack, and a LED power indicator. The cabinets are painted black and the front of the speakers do not have a grill cover on them, which shows off the speakers themselves."

Diamond Multimedia Mini Rockers Mobile
     Sun, Feb 24 2013 | 9:02A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
You have all this great music on your iPhone or Android device, but sharing those tunes through the built-in speaker certainly leaves something to be desired. At the same time, you don’t want to necessarily rely on large and bulky speaker docks in order to raise the volume. For times like these, you may be interested in the Mini Rockers Bluetooth Mobile Speaker from Diamond Multimedia.

Mad Catz F.R.E.Q.5 Red Stereo Gaming Headset Review
     Sat, Feb 23 2013 | 9:04A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
February 2013 was supposed to be a very important month for me and the rest of the staff since during this month not one but two very special game titles were scheduled for release, first the Dragonborn DLC add-on for The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and the long awaited Aliens Colonial Marines which as the title suggests was made after one of the best sci-fi/thriller movies of all time, Aliens. Unfortunately although the Dragonborn DLC proved to be worthy of our enthusiasm i can`t really say the same about Aliens Colonial Marines since after having played with it for almost 6 hours straight it left us with a bitter taste (mostly due to gameplay and graphics). Had Sega released the game 3 years ago there`s a good chance that we would all be astonished by it and sucked into the storyline, however this is 2013 and releasing a game with 2010 graphics is simply not the way to go, especially when you are releasing a sci-fi game with plenty of visual effects (although we did enjoy the Weyland-Yutani Corporation twist). Still both the Dragonborn DLC and the Aliens Colonial Marines came at just the right moment in time since almost 10 days ago we started testing of the latest F.R.E.Q.5 Red stereo headset by Mad Catz."

     Tue, Feb 19 2013 | 1:43P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
When it comes to headsets we have a great deal of choices that are available from a wide variety options. While we have headsets that are dedicated to gaming and others for music and movies, it`s always nice to see a headset with the options to do both. Today we are excited to share a new line of gaming/media headset that has recently hit store shelves. We had a chance to take a look at two models from Oblanc: the NC-2 U.F.O and NC1-1 Cobra headsets. Just from the exterior packaging of the headset when they arrived for review, we noticed the designs from Oblanc were unique to say the least. We are looking forward to seeing what these new entries into the market are about."

Eagletech Arion Foldable Bluetooth 3.0 Headset Model:ARHP200BF @ TechwareLabs
     Tue, Feb 19 2013 | 11:04A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Bluetooth headsets are typically much further from headphones both on quality standards and sound quality. Most headsets are monophonic sound channel and thus arent guaranteed to put out the best quality. Having a headset in Bluetooth allows you to have phone conversations and listen to your portable media. Now Eagletech came out with Arion Foldable ARHP200BF, which is about 70$ at your regular internet retailers. This headset has omnidirectional microphone that picks up wonderfully leading to great conversations with little to no lack of hearing."

If you are in the market for a good headset there are only so many companies available, one of them is Razer which is well known for their high end gaming accessories. They sent us their Chimaera 5,1 headset that we are going to review today. This headset works for both a PC and on a Xbox 360 but the price tag is quite steep since even Newegg sells them for around 180$ so expectations are obviously high."

The SA950i headphones are designed primarily for Apple iPhone/iPod/iPad users, but will also work just as well on most other modern smartphones.
