Sony VAIO VPC-YB15KX/S
|
“The Sony VAIO VPC-YB15KX/S is an 11-inch laptop that offers AMD's new Fusion CPU/GPU combo chipset and a new design. It's definitely an ultraportable, but it doesn't sacrifice performance as you get a dual-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and a roomy 500GB hard drive.”

Acer Aspire 5830T notebook
|
It’s been a while since we met the last representative of the new,
promising series of Acer notebooks - Timeline. The elegant lines, good
performance and recognisable design were accompanied by excellent
battery autonomy and a reasonable price, which made these models very
attractive. This time around, it’s another “sinking” - Acer’s Aspire
5830T, from the new TimelineX generation. The recognisable ground
aluminium lid with a silver Acer logo is present here as well. Besides
the fact that pressure on the lid causes no display distortion, the
aluminium surface also provides additional ruggedness and strength to
the notebook. The sharp lines are usually indicative of business models,
but Acer has used a small trick - all edges are rounded or mildly tilted
against the surface they’re facing, which makes the new TimelineX models
much more attractive to a wider number of customers…

MSI GX660R Gaming Laptop Review
|
"The GX660R is available in various flavours, including Core-i7 based builds and comes with the same high-end Dynaudio speakers that were used in the GT660 with the graphics also receiving an upgrade to AMD's DX11 enabled Mobility 5870... That "R" in the model name, that's for RAID. In theory that all sounds like a system with a high end price tag but MSI have decent spec builds starting at a little under £999 which seems too good to be true. Let's find out if it is..."

Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Ultraportable Notebook Review
|
Living up to its reputation, I've generally been pleased with Lenovo's overall build quality and performance. The recently reviewed IdeaPad U260 was a real work of art and excelled in nearly every category except for one -- it narrowly missed Intel's Sandy Bridge processor refresh which would have offered even better all-around CPU and GPU performance.
Today we'll be looking at our first notebook based on Intel's second generation Core processors, the ThinkPad X220. The X220 was just introduced this month and represents Lenovo's latest ultraportable ThinkPad.
Feature highlights include a 12.5" 1366x768 IPS display, a solidly built thin frame and starting weight of 3 pounds, all without sacrificing on performance courtesy of Intel's new mobile processors. The ThinkPad X series refresh is available in various configurations, from the Core i3-2310M all the way up to the high-end i7-2620M (the series fastest dual-core mobile processor).

Acer Aspire D260-1270
|
"The netbook shelf is a crowded place these days, and it can be tough for buyers to see the difference among the various 10-inch, Intel Atom-powered netbooks out there. Thanks to a few above average specs, like a 320GB hard drive and a long lasting battery, the Acer Aspire One D260-1270 stands out among a crowd of look-alike products."

“The K52JT-XT1R 15.6-inch laptop from Asus offers a quad-core CPU, a huge hard drive and dedicated AMD graphics that results in solid performance. The laptop has a 720p high-definition display and an HDMI-out connection, which means it's a great contender for multimedia use.”

Toshiba Satellite C655
|
"This makes for a complex verdict. Yes, the AMD E-240 is slow.
But this laptop, the Toshiba Satellite C655, is a nice laptop for the
price - and this laptop only exists because AMD has finally produced a
competent Atom competitor. The 15.6” display, with its correspondingly
large keyboard, is more pleasant to use than your typical 10.1” or
11.6” netbook. If you’re looking for a laptop, but your budget is
slim, the Toshiba Satellite C655 should be on your short list."

Lenovo IdeaPad U260 12.5" Laptop Review
|
Mobile computing is one of the most dynamic segments of consumer electronics in recent history. From the netbook craze from a few years ago, to smartphones and of course, the tablet computer. And while all of these extensions of mobile computing are exciting, the trusty laptop is still the most well-rounded option. Classified as a Lifestyle product, Lenovo's IdeaPad U260 aims to be your "thin, light, stylish travel companion".
Our IdeaPad U260 came equipped with Intel's ULV Core i5-470UM operating at 1.33 GHz with 3MB of L2 cache, Intel HD Graphics, 4GB of PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM, a Hitachi 320GB 5400 RPM hard drive, integrated Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 1000, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a 4-cell Li-Polymer battery and a 12.5" HD AntiGlare 1366 x 768 display.
Right away we can see that the U260 is a very sleek and sexy system, complete with a leather wrist rest and chiclet-style keys. Total system weight is 3.04 pounds, thanks in large part to the one-piece magnesium-aluminum cover. Thickness is measured at only 18mm.

Viewsonic ViewPad 10s tablet
|
We received an unpolished version of Viewsonic’s ViewPad 10s a week ago
or so. This isn’t the first ViewSonic tablet that we’ve had the chance
to encounter, but no less interesting for that. The device is based on
NVIDIA’s 1 GHz Tegra 2 chip, which makes this tablet much more powerful
than many PCs that we keep in our homes. This is no longer a typical
tablet - a small handy device that can play a YouTube video or surf the
internet - this ViewPad plays serious films and runs serious games. Our
sample had 4 GB of internal memory, which may be increased to 16 GB in
the final revision. If that proves to be insufficient, you can always
extend the capacity with a microSD card, with a capacity of up to 32 GB,
forming a serious storage device…

Lenovo ThinkPad EDGE 13 notebook
|
Since acquiring IBM’s famed ThinkPad brand five years ago, Lenovo has
done their best to restore this legendary brand to its former glory.
It’s undeniable that they’ve done little wrong in this regard, but
there’s always been that impression of a lack of innovation that would
truly give ThinkPad the push it deserves…

Apple iPad 2 Tablet Review
|
The magic is back for a second act, baby, and it doesn't play for the Lakers (that's the other Magic). The magic we're talking about plays for team Apple, and while the competition tries to come up with a so-called "iPad killer," Apple may have beat them to the punch. How's that for irony? We're of course referring to the iPad 2, Apple's second tablet in as many years, and the first successor to the slate that started it all. Don't confuse that to mean Apple invented the tablet, which it didn't, but the Cupertino outfit was the first to figure out how to market and sell such a device to the mainstream, almost single-handedly reviving a mobile concept that many didn't think could co-exist with laptops and netbooks...

Acer Aspire TimeLineX 4820-TG-6847
|
"The Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4820TG-6847 has really good performance thanks to its Intel Core i5 CPU and AMD's Radeon HD graphics. It's a really great multimedia machine, but the quality of the 14-inch display left a little disappointed. However, the 640GB hard drive and 4GB of memory make up for it."

GIGABYTE P2532: Thinnest 2nd Gen Core i7 Notebook Hands On
|
"With all the notebooks flooding the market it's nice to find one with a grand claim to fame. "The thinnest 2nd Generation Core i7 Notebook", as with all tech titles like that are fleeting, but they are good while they last. The GIGABYTE P2532 multimedia laptop offers a stylish design with a powerful quad-core 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processor.
In its 15.6" chassis it sports a full HD display with 1920×1080 resolution and a LED backlight screen. Under the hood we've got a 500GB 7200rpm HDD, 4GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GT550M/ 2GB VRAM with Optimus technology. Taking a look around the unit, you'll find a DVD burner, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, and THX Tru Studio Pro technology in its 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer."
