I`ve been looking at quite a few different media players recently and contemporary ones are all quite similar. Around 8 inches across, internal hard drive of varying size and internet connectivity. Today I`m looking at one that`s a little different though. It`s compact, missing a few traditional connectors but manages to include built in wireless connectivity. There`s no internal storage to speak of, but the applications and games available make this one of the -- on paper -- most fully featured HTPC replacements out there. Let`s check it out.,,,,,,,,"
Connected media streamers, like the pair from Roku and NETGEAR that we reviewed recently, focus on providing access to IP content but generally cannot handle local media well enough (if at all) to be a viable unifying solution. Until we have enough bandwidth, and services able to deliver quality audio/video services over the Internet, those devices act as a supplement to players like the Dune HD Smart H1 that we will look at today. Locally cached content includes a diverse set of file types and formats, so H1?s support for disc-less Blu-ray, M2TS, MKV, and all of the codecs commonly found within is an essential starting point. *"
For more than a year enthusiasts in the Home Theater PC (HTPC) community have known Ceton as the Kirkland, WA company that delivered the first true PCIe, and until recently only, Digital Cable Tuner (DCT) available on the market. Discontent to sit out the recent, relative glut of CableCARD devices and form factors they have introduced a new external USB member to their four tuner product line with planned availability on September 19th -- aptly named ?InfiniTV 4 USB.? We recently reviewed two similarly external CableCARD tuners from Hauppauge and SiliconDust which entered the market ahead of Ceton, but time to market is only part of the equation as both devices have struggled with maturity; so the real question is if Ceton?s experience in the field can provide the same quality of experience we have come to expect from their earlier device. *"
Asus`s O!Play Mini media player packs a lot of punch into a tiny black box that can fit just about anywhere. The tradeoff for its small size is no internal HDD support, but the front panel has a card slot and USB 2.0 port for accessing media files. Playback of 1080P videos is flawless in terms of both picture and sound, and it reads all the popular video, audio, and photo formats right out of the box.,,,,,,,,"
Patriot Memory today expanded its media player
ecosystem with the introduction of its new PBO Alpine media player. Offering the
flexibility and functionality of the Android platform, the PBO Alpine will make

“Flexibility and full support will be what differentiates the PBO Alpine from
other available media player solutions”, says Mo Monh, Patriot Memory’s Product
Manager. “Providing the flexibility of the Android OS paired with support for
commonly supported media file types, the PBO Alpine will provide endless
possibilities for both mainstream and enthusiast consumers.”
ARM926EJ-S Android OS Support for M-JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4,

AMR-NB, DTS, MP3, OGG, and RA_COOK HDMI and Dolby Digital
There haven?t been very many products in the market that has truly fired me up and got me as excited as the MC001-BD. Many companies have tried to make HTPC that are compact and quiet but I usually find that I can do better for less. The MC001-BD is probably the first where I wouldn?t be able to do that. With over ten years experience in system cooling they were able to engineer an Entertainment Center that was both compact and passively cooled."
While Microsoft and Nintendo might be hoping that their next generation of home consols will ultimately become our HTPC, media centres of the future, for now the trend is for media players like the one I`m looking at today. The Eminent RT3 is an HD video, music and image player with built in web functionality. Let`s check it out."

Today we`ve managed to get the Samsung Series 9 ultra-portable laptop to review for you guys. With a very thin and lightweight design, the Samsung Series 9 900X3A laptop is very similar to the Apple MacBook Air. As well as this, some very impressive hardware is also present with a 1.4GHz Intel Core i5-2537M processor and 4GB of RAM. We`re expecting great things from the Samsung Series 9; so let`s take a closer look..."
?This 47-inch LED-backlit set employs passive 3D technology to deliver outstanding 3D imagery with the use of lightweight, inexpensive glasses that can be worn comfortably for hours. But that`s only part of the story: inky blacks, excellent color quality, low power usage, and a robust feature set all help to make the 47LW5600 our latest Editors` Choice 3D TV.?"
Up here in the cold frozen wastelands of Canada, we are celebrating thanksgiving almost a month before our American friends down south. (Editor`s note: This review was written over Thanksgiving, so we are not stuck in any sort of time lag, haha.) So, what do I have to be thankful for? Well, I am thankful that it hasn`t snowed yet, and that UEBO has sent us the M50 media player to review. I am also thankful for the massive turkey dinner that I had on the weekend, among many other things. While I`m sitting down on the couch after being more stuffed than ever before, wouldn`t it be nice to just plug in my flash stick to quickly show my family some vacation pictures on the large screen TV? How about if I was to go over to a friend`s house, and show some of my friends some pictures of a concert I went to? As you can tell, having something quick and easy to attach to a TV and play movies or show pictures is a typical issue for many people. The solution I have here is the UEBO M50, a pocket-sized portable media player. Media players are handy to have, but one that you can take with you to other places is potentially invaluable. I can think of countless places where I would want to plug a USB flash drive to play videos or view some pictures, or heck, even listen to music. The only real question that remains is whether or not the UEBO M50 is really worth its price tag of $65 at press time. As always, you will have to read on to find out the answer!"
A few years ago, I was chatting with my buddy Devin after class (Who is now also my colleague here at APH Networks), and somehow we came across the topic of relationships with members of the opposite gender. Looks are what that gets it started, he said. But personality is what that keeps it going. What can I say? As a guy, I will admit it is quite literally impossible to completely look past a girl`s physical appearance, and go straight for the inner beauty. Okay, maybe there are exceptions out there, but I am pretty sure we were created with a natural appreciation for good looks; not that I am superficial or anything. At the same time, one thing we must agree on is appearance is not everything. Yes, it gets you attracted to that person in the first place, but have you ever been with anyone that you simply cannot stand? Sure, looks are great, but so is their personality. In other words, what makes an attractive person is not exclusively outer beauty or purely inner beauty, but instead, it is a balanced combination of both. A few weeks ago, my colleagues Devin and Jeremy reviewed the UEBO M50 and UEBO M100, respectively. To finish off our trio of reviews at the climax, what we have here at APH Networks this afternoon is the king of all UEBO products -- the UEBO M400. On the outside, the company`s flagship device is probably the best looking digital media player I have ever seen. But does it have the personality to boot? Read on to find out!"
Sometime ago we reviewed the WDTV which is a great product, but as with everything in technology field products evolve. The next product in the evolution of the Western Digital TV series is the WD TV Live Hub and we have reviewed it for you here."
Lately, you may have heard of my recent trip to Hong Kong. I believe Hong Kong is like my second home to me, because every time I visit, I take home something of great value. It was less than five years ago that I came back to Canada happily bringing home a Japanese PlayStation 3 (Japanese PS3s run on the same area code as North American PS3s) I got for a cheaper price, without tax, and of course, the opportunity to evade the immense waiting lines. At the time, the PlayStation 3 was just another gaming system that many parents loathed. For our family however, the gaming system became much more than a prosthetic used for killing Nazi Zombies, if you catch my drift. Surprisingly, my parents fully accepted the console and all its features. Wanted to watch a DVD? Turn on the PlayStation 3. Wanted to listen to music using an external storage device or a CD? Turn on the PlayStation 3. Wanted to watch a movie off an external storage device? Turn on the PlayStation 3. If we were feeling ambitious, we would buy a Blu-ray and guess what? We turned on the PlayStation 3. Heck, we even showed our parents YouTube videos using the PlayStation 3. However, as the saying goes, All good things come to an end. When my brother moved out, let`s just say that at times, my parents missed the PlayStation 3 more than him. It was not long before my parents forced me to go out shopping for another media player alternative. I soon ended up with a Patriot Box Office network media player, which was reviewed by my colleague Jonathan more than a year ago, because it did all that we wanted it to do for a reasonable price. But are there better things in the market today? Today, we have a new portable media player from UEBO. UEBO states that the M100 media player is stylish on the outside, and genius on the inside. Can it do all this and still be priced a reasonable amount? Read on to find out!"
?It`s no PlayStation Phone, but the control pad on Sony Ericsson`s Xperia Play makes it the best gaming phone available in the U.S. today. As with other unique phones, though, the big question is whether the Android-based Xperia Play will see a steady stream of new software that plays to its strengths.?"
?The Vizio E3D420VX is a 42-inch HDTV that has some really great features, including 3D support and streaming, for a low cost. It has good color and picture quality, but not the best out there. The 3D image quality, on the other hand, is quite good and Vizio even includes two pairs of 3D glasses.?"
