NVIDIA GeForce LAN 6 October 14-16 2011 Coverage @ Hi Tech Legion
|
DIA resurrected their GeForce LAN event recently to much success. With hundreds of gamers gathered aboard the USS Hornet, NVIDIA as well as some of other major players in the hardware industry organized a 3-days of fun and hard core gaming. DICE was also on deck to show off the biggest game title release this year: Battlefield 3. Lucky players not only got to play the game, but also participate in a LAN tournament as well for some sweet, sweet prizes. Attending the event, is our very own Editor-in-Chief Paul Marini Jr. who, armed with an HD camera, covered all things that were important: games, hardware and of course...booth babes!"

Futurelooks Was Your Wing Man at NVIDIA?s GeForce LAN 2011
|
Futurelooks reports back on their GeForce LAN 2011 experience ... *Futurelooks Was Your Wing Man at NVIDIA?s GeForce LAN 2011* Pavel Chekov once found the ?Nuclear Wessels? here in Star Trek IV ? The Voyage Home. But this past weekend (October 14 ? 16, 2011) in ALAMEDA, CA, nVidia resurrected their GeForceLAN event after a long absence. So it was no surprise that 2011`s event, the first since 2007 and the sixth in history, sold out in just two hours. Any of the 650+ BYOC attendees or countless hundreds of spectators certainly knew why they just had to be there ? who wouldn?t want to play this year?s hottest FPS title weeks before release, in all places but a World War II aircraft carrier hangar bay? * * *"

COMPUTEX 2011 Video Coverage - NZXT and BitFenix
|
Futurelooks continues its extensive and comprehensive video COMPUTEX 2011 coverage with a look at NZXT and BitFenix ... *COMPUTEX 2011 Video Coverage ? NZXT?s Pink Phantom is Real Plus the Return of the Tempest and More!* NZXT has been extremely busy lately. That?s what happens when you build one of the most sought after computer enclosures of 2010. While the Phantom was a true star of the stable, the follow up product, the H2, was met with a bit of controversy. However, the expectations of some reviews weren?t really realistic because the case was clearly aimed at a substantially lower price point. Still, this hasn?t stopped NZXT from forging ahead as they have always done and their new line up of cases and accessories fills in the gaps and make the 2011 more complete. Below is a quick list of what you?ll see in the video above? *"

Walk along the roof edge of the CN Tower, 356m up in the air?
|
Come to Toronto, visit the CN tower, walk around the outside of its windy roof on a narrow platform, 356m (1,168ft) above the ground, with NO railing... then lean back with nothing to hold onto!! That is Toronto's newest attraction - CN Tower EdgeWalk Whoever thought it up is a mad genius!!
The best bit, the disclaimer on the website which reads "Must be 107cm (3'6") tall to ride." Do you have the guts to do this? Let PCSTATS know!

ZOTAC Factory Tour in Dongguan
|
In the previous years, Bjorn3D has been lucky enough to take part of several factory tours, including a Kingston factory tour in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Bjorn3D managed to take part of an even larger factory tour this year in Dongguan, China, at the PC Partner facility. PC Partner was established in 1997 and is one of the main providers of electronic manufacturing services (EMS), motherboards, graphics cards and other consumer electronics. With their ISO 9001 certification, PC Partner is committed to delivering products to the table with the quality required to meet international standards. ZOTAC, one of the leading innovators in mini-ITX motherboards and channel manufacturer is a proud subsidiary of PC Partner, one of the five giant contractors of the PC business. Though ZOTAC is not the only subsidiary of PC Partner, in this article, we'll solely focus on how ZOTAC's products are put together from the exposed Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) to the finished working and packaged product.

Quakecon 2011 today at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas
|
When questioned about his interest in voxel based engines,
John surprised a few of us with his answer. Apparently he has written
several voxel based engines over the years, often right after some of
their major gaming releases. The infinite detail that voxels can
address is obviously of great interest, but he feels that even with
current (and fast) hardware it is still inferior in many ways to
current polygon/raster based rendering."

GIGABYTE - A75 OC Challenge - on HWBOT
|
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards,
graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions today announced a new
overclocking competition in conjunction with HWBOT.org called the “A75 OC
Challenge” during the month of August.
Since the recent launch of the world’s first APU (Accelerated Processing
Unit) from AMD, there has been a lot of benching going on to see if AMD really
has created an onboard graphics solution that can compete head-to-head with the
lower end discrete market. But many are asking the age-old question, “will it
blend”? No, wait a second...we really don’t suggest trying that. The real
question is will it overclock? During the month of August, GIGABYTE would like
you guys to answer that for us. So, using any GIGABYTE A75 motherboard (learn
all about them HERE), submit your best scores for each of the 5 stages using
only the APU graphics…ie., no discrete graphics cards allowed. Since HWBOT is
hosting, HWBOT rules apply. The first place winner gets a 990FXA-UD5 and second
and third place each get a E350N-USB3. Good luck everyone!
Stage 1: 3Dmark 11 P (Preset) Stage 2: 3Dmark Vantage P (Preset) Stage
3: PCMARK 7 Stage 4: Unique Heaven DX11 Stage 5: UCBench2011
