Best videography I've ever seen in a Youtube how-to video
     Wed, Mar 20 2013 | 12:18A | Web News | PermaLink

Not at all tech related BUT - this is the best videography I've ever seen in a Youtube how-to video.

Particularly impressed by the stop motion animation of the wood staining at 11:45. Frank Howarth sets the benchmark by which all Youtube videos will forever by judged by this humble tech reporter. Wow.

PSst - behind the scenes look at how Frank Howard filmed the dolly shots and built the timing gear from common materials.

Samsung Series 5 535 Review @ TechReviewSource.com
     Sat, Oct 20 2012 | 11:06A | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
The Samsung Series 5 535 is a 14-inch ultraportable that isn`t quite as light and portable as some other similar laptops but it does have an optical drive and good graphics capabilities. It is powered by an AMD CPU, which does well against its Intel counterpart but it does come up slightly short."

[Tech ARP] Why Apple Maps-gate Could Have Been Avoided (Or Not) Rev. 2.0
     Tue, Oct 16 2012 | 3:42A | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
The furore over the new Apple Maps doesn`t seem to be abating anytime soon. Every day, there are new articles on how the new Apple Maps has just directed someone to walk into a river, or converted the mighty Derwent River in Hobarts, Australia into a lake... This may seem like your typical fare from Apple detractors, but the fact of the matter is most of these people who are complaining are... Apple users! At the same time, there is a constant slew of articles or commentaries defending Apple Maps as anything from a good start to no one gets it right the first time. They may be right, or they may just be die-hard Apple fanatics. But it doesn`t seem like the tit-for-tat is going to end anytime soon. Even here in Tech ARP, we have different opinions on Apple Maps and how well they handled the aftermath. Let`s take a look..."

A Futurelooks News Flash - ASUS AMD HD 7970 DirectCU II Video Card Review
     Thu, Oct 11 2012 | 9:36A | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
GPU heat is the by-product of any awesome gaming experience and managing it is a never ending task. ASUS DirectCU II series video cards feature an impressive custom designed cooler for this reason. It is a flagship among ASUS video cards that sport hand picked GPUs, enhanced voltage regulation management (VRM), and are assembled with their own unique higher quality components. But the question is, do all these enhancements make a truly a better graphics card? Will it really live up to strict gamer standards for heat management and for overclocking? We literally took the ASUS AMD HD 7970 DirectCU II video card a part in order to find out. *"

NewerTech NuGreen Energy Efficient Flexible Neck LED Desk Lamp Review
     Fri, Jun 08 2012 | 9:05A | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Working at nights (just like now) is something i do a lot mainly because there`s far less ambient noise around (and also less distractions) allowing me to perform noise level tests far more accurately than during the day. However what`s really hard is sitting in front of a 30 LCD screen and typing without any other light source in the room (amBX lights are not strong enough) something which basically means strong and frequent headaches. To avoid that you must put less strain to your eyes and for that you always need to have a light turned on in the same room which is something i don`t really like especially since the ones I have in this room are very powerful for night use. Well Newertech may have the answer for me since they just released the NuGreen Energy Efficient Flexible Neck LED Desk Lamp."

How To Stop Facebook Notifications On Apple iOS
     Fri, Feb 24 2012 | 1:25P | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Facebook sure is addictive. Many people cannot live without constant updates on Facebook. Cue in the Facebook iOS app that allows you to bring Facebook wherever you go. When I first gave it a try, it was fun. I would get updates all the time. Then it got a little tedious... and annoying. The Facebook app would keep pinging me everytime someone made a new post or a comment. I tried cutting down what Facebook would notify me to just new posts or comments. However, that still resulted in a deluge of notifications. Eventually, I got so annoyed, I decided to turn off ALL push notifications by the Facebook app. But what the heck, they kept coming like a tsunami. Unstoppable."

Win a 32GB Kingston Wi-Drive for their Apple iOS
     Sat, Dec 17 2011 | 12:00P | Web News | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Last week, Mike Smith from Kingston Technology stopped by the Futurelooks Studio to show off three great gifts that no computer enthusiast will be taking back for a refund this holiday season. One of the gift suggestions was Kingston’s Wi-Drive product which gives Apple iOS devices additional wireless storage without having to buy another larger device. The Wi-Drive comes in both 16GB and 32GB sizes and retails for between $119 – 199 US. Android App support is already released in BETA with an imminent full release on the Android Marketplace very soon. This makes it great gift for both Google and Apple Fanboys.
