Benchmarks: 3DMark2001SE, 3DMark03

By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics.

Higher numbers denote better performance.

6. Asus V9950 Ultra 15995
7. Asus V9950 Ultra (531/1020) 16386

Because the GeForceFX 5900 Ultra can only render 4 pixels in single texture mode it does relatively poorly in 3DMark2001SE.

This new accurate diagnostic tool, designed for DirectX9.0, provides you with all the information you need to make informed hardware assessments. Havok Total real-time physics library from Havok - these routines are used to accurately model the movements of objects due to forces, etc. FMOD sound library from Firelight Technologies - these are used for the various sound effects and routines used in the tests. Graphics adapter analysis software from Powerstrip of Entech Taiwan - this is used to correctly determine the speeds of the graphics processing and video memory chips, plus supply additional hardware information. Higher 3DMark03 scores denote better performance.

Here we see that the Asus V9950 Ultra falls in line with what we would expect. An interesting note, using the beta 44.67 drivers and the Asus V9950 Ultra's 3DMark scores jump about 1000 points! Where nVIDIA got this extra performance I don't know....
